Style: Cream Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
An ale version of the American lager, this pale, straw-colored beauty was born in the USA. Faint notes of malt and flaked corn are complimented by a smooth mouthfeel. A sweet corn-like aroma bubbles up through the carbonation. Noble hops help balance the sweetness of the beer. We used Hallertauer hops just because we like 'em. Named in honor of its creator--our second brewer, Rod Murray--it's a refresher and a thirst-quencher. This is America. Love it or leave it, baby!

Yellow and hazy, head and lacing were not bad at all.

Smell was sweet and grainy with a touch of candy like sweetness.

Taste was more sweet and candy like, somewhat heffe like, good grains and light malts. There's a touch of balancing hops and just a little bit of yeast.

Body was very creamy, yet light and very easy to drink, very smooth.

Overall it was a good starter beer and a tasty cream ale.

Light gold in color with excellent clarity. A fingernail of white head covers a quarter of the top and I see fairly active carbonation bubbles. I smell sweet corn and light malt. The flavor is primarily corn with some light malt mixed in. The body is moderately carbonated and refreshing.

Who would like this? I tried this with five people and no one enjoyed it.

A - golden straw in color with very fast rising carbonation. white frothy head that is slow to dissipate. slightly cloudy. 3.75/5

S - corn, caramel sweetness, white bread, light malt. ever so slight hint of grassy hops. 3.5/5

T - light malt with a hint of caramel. corn. very straightforward. not much in the way of hops. 3.5/5

M - light and crisp but somewhat smooth and creamy at the same time. seems to linger on the palate. carbonation is noticeable but disappears quickly. 4/5

O - good lighter beer. very simple but a very interesting mouthfeel in terms of a dichotomy. 3.75/5

Picked up a fresh six pack when I got off work at midnight; I am now enjoying it in front of the solitary glow of the computer screen amidst dark surroundings.

Look: Light golden yellow with a fleeting white head that rapidly settled to a thin cap. The lacing was weak but present.

Smell: Very mild corn and barley aroma with a touch of fruity ale yeast.

Taste: Lightly sweet, corn husks, and a barely noticeable kiss of alcohol. No hops to speak of but I do detect a slight grassy hue. It is a basic "beer-y" taste but still enjoyable.

Feel: Smooth yet crisp and finishes clean.

Overall: This is a good example of the style. It is very drinkable and clean like a lager but with that unmistakable ale goodness. This is basically an ale pretending to be a lager. Definitely a beginner beer because there isn't a lot going on.

So, I like cream ales, and have always been partial to the style as a go-to lawnmower beer. This one is clear, golden, and has a slim...not quite negligible...head. The aroma is lightly bready, has a bit of corn, and some underlying fruit (distant apricot?). There is more of corn in the flavor, but also a pleasant sweetness. Light in body and clean. Nice.

Pale golden color with good clarify. Solid head retention with small lace lines. Oddly placed aroma of beef broth. Processed bread grain flavor. Faint herbal hops. Slightly metallic finish. Light body with a gritty, chewy texture and well carbonated. Overall, average at best. Minimal complexity and flavor. Freshness is not really there either. Won't be buying again.
