sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer is a gift from my brother Brian, Thanks bro!
The beer pours a dark cola brown color with fluffy beige colored head of 4 cm foaming up on a gentle pour.
The aroma on this beer is a lot of roasted malt with some dark chocolate and a bit of coffee grounds. No hop presence on the nose and the alcohol is fairly muted as well.
First sip reveals an average body with fine carbonation that rolls across my palate after each sip. Very smooth texture and this beer drinks very easy for a bigger brew.
The flavor is VERY roasty with an almost charred note mixing with some coffee grounds, dark chocolate and a little bit of molasses. Again the hops are not present and the 8% ABV is also pretty well hidden.
This is a nice roasty Imperial Stout and Im glad to have had a chance to try it Worth a purchase if you find a can in PA.

A growler at Imminent Liquidation.

A: The stout pours with a steady black darkness. There wasn't much of a head.

S: The nose is roasted, sweet with chocolate. The body isn't as strong as many double stouts; it does, though, have a nice ring to it.

T: The ale strikes me as more of a schwarzbier, roasted and dark but not to the nth degree. Surprisingly, I like the more restrained body of the stout. Chocolate lingers, loiters even, but it never rises to the 'too strong' level. The ale retains a light body throughout, sweetly roasted without a strong hop presence.

M: The mouthfeel is roasted sweet, a chocolatey blend. Hops and thick malts are nowhere to be found, instead I enjoyed to relaxed body.

D: I can't imagine that this stout is too strong. It strikes me as a schwarzbier, rather than a stout or a double stout.

The initial pour gave me a finger of deep-tan bubbles that quickly faded to wisps. Color was a deep dark-brown allowing zero light penetration. Nose had a dark chocolate richness, like a brownie or a piece of fudge. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, a little on the thin side for the style. I got an initial wash of dark chocolate on the tongue, then I tasted a smoky charcoal quality. Finish had a dusty, cocoa powdery quality initially, then fading off to a smokiness that lingered well past the swallow. This is not one of my favorite styles, but for an initial offering from a new local brewery, they really did themselves proud. I look forward to the releases of their other beers in the future.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a small chalice: color is solid black, head is tan and presents at least 1/2 inch thick and lingers very well with about 1/4 inch top and some spotty lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is very pleasant with moderate roast, chocolate, toast, light bitterness like coffee grounds.

Taste is similar with a bit enhanced flavor of each in the aroma with roast, chocolate, toast, coffee and light bitterness, light sweetness to counter the strength and roasty flavors. Alcohol is hidden very well with maybe just the drying component noticeable.

Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, sharp on the tongue as it warms and some light drying.

Overall a very good strong stout with a light sweetness and good flavor/aroma.

The board at the Bull's Head listed this at 8% abv

a: This was a very dark brown and it was served to me with a small dark tan colored head.

s: Reminds me of an imperial milk stout. I smelled sweet milk chocolate and a hint of coffee; not much roast or hops.

m: Again I'm reminded of an imperial milk stout, I swear I taste lactose. I also found lots of milk chocolate sweetness. I wouldn't have minded more roast or bitterness at the end, but this was pretty good regardless.

m: Very creamy overall.

d: Pretty nice stout, I look forward to trying more from these guys.

Poured into a tulip glass at 50 degrees. The head is a creamy, airy, and foamy, with good retention. A light tan head surrounds the inky black beer that is opaque. The head tats a small amount of lacing on the glass.

The Imperial Stout aromas are not as pronounced. The beer's aromas are milk chocolate, coffee, wood, dark roasted malt, earthy, bready, yeasty, burnt sugar, char, molasses, raisins, and a touch of floral.

The flavors of the beer are dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, wood, yeast, bready, burnt sugar, char, molasses, raisins, and a touch of floral.

The mouthfeel of the beer is chewy and dry. The body of the beer is medium-plus, carbonation is medium-minus and a medium-plus finish.

The Imperial Stout falls short for being great. The beer is just average, I have tasted better.

-Snifter. Draft. 08.22.15

A: Black coloring with a thin, dark khaki head that dissipated rather quickly. No visible effervesce, with only a small amounts of lacing left behind. Pretty good.

S: Nose was fresh and roasty, finely grounded coffee beans, smooth, aided by some sweet dark chocolate and milk. The bitterness was light minded, mostly consumed by the sweet chocolateley roast scents that gave this a pleasant and sweet smell. While not powerful or overwhelming, this did provide a nice gentle fresh, roasty nature perfect for the august summer time temperatures when you don't want to be bogged down by big heavy beers.

T: The flavor was very smooth, chocolateley roast, freshly grounded coffee beans, some light milky-vanilla hints that was rich and clean in nature. The chocolate and coffee roast was nicely bittering, fresh and again, perfect for that august heat when this was consumed.

M: Mouthful was light and oily, lightly stick in texture with a smooth exit from the tongue.

O: A really cleanly brewed roasty beer to get a nice cold coffee fix, with rich dark coffee beans and chocolate to aid in a rich flavor. Again this beer went down crazy quick for me, very drinkable. The alcohol of 8.00% was undetectable and very balanced.
