16 oz can split with a friend, poured into a plastic cup. Pours pitch black with a thick, creamy tan head. Great lacing. Aroma and flavor feature dark, roasty malt with a hint of char. Dark chocolate, vanilla, and citrus pith are present as well; it's quite bitter, with enough sweetness to only partially offset the bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy with some definitely booziness. Overall this has a lot going on and I suspect it would mellow out with a little bit of age.

Look: It pours very dark brown with a brown head. Head retention is good.

Smell: It has aromas of roasted grains and a hint of smoke. There are supporting notes of plums.

Taste: It has roasted grains with a hint of smoke and burnt elements. There are some citrus notes with very low plums.

Feel: It has a full body with smooth alcohol warming.

Overall, some good flavors and aromas with a slight tinge of harshness due to the grains in the finish.

Purchased a 4pk (16oz cans) at Whole Foods. $14/4pk

Pours a jet black color, totally opaque. A 1/2" mocha colored head that dissipates to a skim after a minute or so.

A roasted malt aroma. Inviting.

A rather bitter, roasted malt taste on the initial sip. As the beer warms up, flavors of dark chocolate and burnt coffee also start to show through.

Medium thickness with moderate carbonation.

Overall, a decent brew yet nothing about this beer makes it an amazing Imperial stout. Not the worst stout I've ever had but not the best either. That being said, nothing about this beer is offputting so I'll enjoy finishing up the remaining brews in the 4pk.

Saints preserve! What have we here? It's a pint can of Hegemony emptied into a clear glass liter mug. The nose has now been sprayed with the smell of sweet roastd malt. The liquid is a very carbonated black coffee color with an overabudant tan head and some more modest glass lacing. The taste is rather one dimensional, but it's a very nice one. After plenty of flavored stouts and porters, this is actually a refreshing change of pace. This basically tastes like a stout, even an Imperial Stout should. It's a roasted malt bomb with a little hoppiness. If there's any other reminiscent taste included, it's minutely black licorice or expresso. That's rather typical for the style. There are smoother stouts out there, but this is good. There are richer tasting stouts out there, but this is good. For an Imperial Stout, this conceals its potent ABV very well.

Smell- nose is pretty subdued, but what is there is nice- espresso and dark chocolate and stone fruit

Taste- follows the nose with espresso, chocolate and plum along with a mild roasty bitterness

Feel- medium bodied with low carb; finishes mildly bitter

Overall- really nice tasting imperial stout

$ 14.84 (Including tax)/four pack of 16 oz cans at Adamstown Beverage, Adamstown, PA.
On bottom of can “Canned on 12/19/17”. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 54 degrees in a hand-washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.25.
Body – Dark brown, opaque. When held to the light, a reddish tint appears around the edge.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.3 cm, aggressive center pour), tan, medium density with a few rocks, slightly above average retention, slowly diminishing to an irregular six to nine mm thin ring and a complete rocky layer of variable thickness. Head retraction leaves several broken rings of tiny to small bubbles.
Lacing – Wide irregular ring of tiny to small bubbles.
First pour – Medium brown, clear.
Aroma – 3.5 - Faint roasted malt. Am I detecting cherry or only imagining it? Aroma definitely fades with time.
Flavor – 4 - Begins with a bit of bitter chocolate. A little cherry-like aftertaste appears following large swallows, a bit of hops after belches. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.75 - Medium, creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and summation – 4 – Overall, a decent Impy stout, one I would buy and drink again.

sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer is a gift from my brother Brian, Thanks bro!
The beer pours a dark cola brown color with fluffy beige colored head of 4 cm foaming up on a gentle pour.
The aroma on this beer is a lot of roasted malt with some dark chocolate and a bit of coffee grounds. No hop presence on the nose and the alcohol is fairly muted as well.
First sip reveals an average body with fine carbonation that rolls across my palate after each sip. Very smooth texture and this beer drinks very easy for a bigger brew.
The flavor is VERY roasty with an almost charred note mixing with some coffee grounds, dark chocolate and a little bit of molasses. Again the hops are not present and the 8% ABV is also pretty well hidden.
This is a nice roasty Imperial Stout and Im glad to have had a chance to try it Worth a purchase if you find a can in PA.

Black pour, minimal leakage on the edges, huge, fluffy tan head. The char notes are immediately distinguishable on the nose, and dark chocolate and black cherry notes are also present.

The black cherry notes jump to the front of the flavor parade on the taste, and meld exceptionally well with the char notes. This is an excellent example of the style, IMHO.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a small chalice: color is solid black, head is tan and presents at least 1/2 inch thick and lingers very well with about 1/4 inch top and some spotty lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is very pleasant with moderate roast, chocolate, toast, light bitterness like coffee grounds.

Taste is similar with a bit enhanced flavor of each in the aroma with roast, chocolate, toast, coffee and light bitterness, light sweetness to counter the strength and roasty flavors. Alcohol is hidden very well with maybe just the drying component noticeable.

Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, sharp on the tongue as it warms and some light drying.

Overall a very good strong stout with a light sweetness and good flavor/aroma.
