DC is known as the City of Monuments, and our Monumental IPA is a fitting tribute. Monumental IPA is distinctive for its complex aromas and flavors, and it strikes a perfect balance between hoppy bitterness and malty sweetness.

I am currently on vacation with my wife and her family visiting some of her extended family in Virginia and there is a Wegman's located close to the hotel we are stating at so I went in there and grabbed some singles of beers from Virginia breweries that I have never seen in Cleveland before (or anywhere else that comes to mind for that matter). This is one of the ones I grabbed. Poured out of a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass, this beer pours a clear, medium golden color with some bubbles rising to the surface of the beer. Has a nice white head about 1/3 to 1/2 of an inch thick when first poured. Very good head retention and nice lacing too! Has a nice, slightly toasted, bready/biscuit caramel malt aroma followed by piney hops. It should come as no surprise I suppose then that it also has a nice, slightly toasted, biscuit/bready caramel malt sweet flavor upfront that give way to a nice piney hop backbone. Has a somewhat crisp, smooth, frothy, slightly oily, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate to heavy carbonation rounded out by a dry finish. Worth a try I suppose. Not a bad beer by any means, but nothing special here either.

Poured a slightly golden orange body with minimal head and lace and had a little bit of an interesting aroma with poney hops, caramel malt and bread. However, nose is as good as it gets. Minimal citric/pine hops balance with slight caramel sweetness and a little bread for dryness and full body. However, these aspects are all low-key so while I am not saying this is a watery beer it certainly is "mild", to be polite. Pretty much fence sitting on styles and just not noteworthy.
