Notes / Commercial Description:
Port City Oktoberfest is a traditional Märzen style lager, brewed with all German malts and hops. This beer is amber in color, with malty, gently sweet flavors of crusty bread, leading to a clean dry finish with a touch of noble hops. Our Oktoberfest is unfiltered and completely naturally carbonated, served in the 'keller' or 'Zwickel' style.

Our Oktoberfest won a Silver Medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival for Vienna-style Lager! Prost!

The beer has an almost marzipan flavor but there are notes of burnt bread which impart a surprising spiciness. Excellent balance of spiciness and sweetness here. Great brew.

Poured from a bottle into a glass.

Look: hazy. Light amber. Minimal head. Sudsy ring. Good lacing.
Smell: cool. Some spice. Metallic.
Taste: not much up front. Some slightly hoppy, fruity, metallic lager funk in the middle. Finishes with a nice yeasty bready quality.
Feel: sparkly. Fairly clean.

Rich orange-amber. Billowing, off-white head to start. It is nearly dissipated when I sit down. Nuanced grain aroma... semi-sweet passionfruit/pineapple juice, and a somewhat spicy rye-like undertone. Taste not as sweet as the nose. Albeit there is a juicy meta feel. Buttered toast, cracker jack finish.

Amber/light copper. Smell is caramel malt and a little spice. Taste is same with nice hop balance - hops made themselves known but subtle. Lots of carbonation. Overall liked it.

Quite the exceptional Marzen. Nice hearty malt with nice mix of grain and some caramel notes, balanced nicely with hops at just the right amount. Rich in body as well. Enjoyed this one quite a lot.

This beer has a nice combination of spice and smoothness. It's not particularly memorable, and all in all, it's kind of...bland in a way, but it's a pleasant drink. Not bold in any way, but a good beer.

Tap poured with minimal head. Amber brown in color with slight haze. Nose is malty with a tinge of hop. Suttle bubble feel and finishes with more malt than hopen and dry after taste. Standard oktoberfest beer, but does the trick.
