Served from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.
Pours a 1" tan head that falls slowly with mild lacing. Color is black with a reddish tint. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and toffee along with earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel with a mostly dry finish. Flavors of dark roasted malt, hints of coffee, chocolate, toffee. A lingering hop bitterness in the finish. Overall quite a pleasant and easy drinking brew.

I tried Xingu Black in Rio. It poured a nearly opaque black with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent was slightly sweet with corn like hint. The taste was sweet and maize. Fairly easy to drink. The Mouthfeel was lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Bottle (no apparent date):
Pours like water, but is a deep brown nearing black, with an apparent clarity. Head is thin, and I expected it to run from the top of the glass, but it stood in there and fought.

Nose is cola, light licorice and that classic smell of a dark beer where quality (or perhaps quantity of) specialty malts are not necessary. Light sour tang I am also used to from a lighter brew.

Old licorice (no bite), root beer to cola flavors. That tang is in there as well, in the back. Honestly, not a bad tasting beer, but a very loose interpretation of a Schwarzbier.

A very watery feel, nothing seems to grab hold of the palate for long. A light bite and not flat, but carbonation could use a light boost.

Actually not a bad tasting beer if you just wanted a soda-flavored, lightly carbonated malt beverage. I could drink this again, but not if I actually wanted a nice Schwarzbier.

I don't see a bottle date or import date. An additional note is that this beer has a twist-top.

Appearance: It is a black beer with a medium sized light khaki head. Good head retention.

Aroma: I am getting a very faint caramelized malt aroma. I was about to mention that I didn't smell anything at all and then that caramel aroma popped up. Otherwise it has a featureless aroma.

Taste: That caramelized malt flavor pops up immediately and gives some initial sweetness to the beer. It lingers throughout the drinking experience and at the end it adds a sweet touch to a very slight bitter finish. As the beer warms up slightly the caramel becomes more pronounced and it tastes quite good.

Mouthfeel: It tastes very carbonated with a light effervescent body. A bit watery but it is within the realm of what I would consider acceptable for the style. There is just a touch of bitterness. It is a very clean beer.

Overall: The beer is easy to drink and it is well made. It is one of those beers that I probably wouldn't buy again but also don't regret. It was an enjoyable beer to drink and if I lived in Brazil this would be a decent substitute for an imported German Schwarzbier. I don't think it would blow anyone's socks off but it's worth trying. You mi

I had this beer at a Latin American restaurant in Dallas. I did not expect a lot, Latin American Lagers tend to be bland, but I thought it was a decent Schwarzbier.

(L) It was very black with a thin off white head.

(A) There’s wasn’t much of an aroma but there were hints of chocolate and coffee.

(T) The taste was light roasted grains and it’s sweet with some chocolate and coffee. It didn’t have a whole lot of flavor and was a little bit watery, but it was still a good beer.

(F) It was medium bodied and was moderately carbonated.
