Cool bottle from Brasil, the Crazy Palm, let's give it a whirl. Popping the top smells of a dry adjunct malt. Pours into a Mikasa cold beverage crystal glass to a deep bright yellow with a big bright white head that recedes quickly. On the taste the first observation is the mouthfeel, very watery and lacking in carbonation. On the taste itself, this brew is also very watery no real malt or hops evident. A slightly sweet finish is about the only flavor this brew has. A true disappointment at $10 for a sixer. Avoid.

Golden-to-straw with near perfect clarity much like your other generic lagers. The nose is mellow and somewhat sweet with a hint of corn - reminds me a bit of highlife. Taste is again reminiscent of most macro lagers - a bit of corn malt sweetness with a tiny amount of hops to provide some balance. Hops do come through on the finish, which is crisp and refreshing. Mouthfeel is too thin, though at least has more substance than soda water.

Palm is a middle-of-the-road macro lager that just happens to be from Brazil. I think that in of itself justifies giving this beer a higher rating than the likes of Bud. Plus the slight amount of hops and crisp finish give it a boost in my book. A German pilsner it is not - there was not a trace of Noble hops to be found. I probably wouldn't get this again unless I were in Brazil and it were readily available for cheap.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on August 21, 2014.

Pale yellow pour with big white head

Grain, rice, and other adjuncts leading up to a crisp hop finish. Nothing special.

Light body.

The taste brings up that biscuit malt character but it is mostly malts and clean.hops. This is nothing special and I will not have it again.
