Not the best Dortmunder I’ve ever had but respectable.

Pours a clear light gold in color with nearly two fingers of long lasting white head. Aromas of sweet, grainy malt with spicy and herbal hops. Flavors are well balanced, grainy malts upfront followed by the herbal, spicy hops. Finish starts moderately bitter with some minerally notes but there is a touch of sweetness in the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. A very tasty and drinkable lager.

Good brew. Looked great, very lively and a good head and retention. However, too hoppy compared to its German brethren. Not crisp either, a little bit too much for a Dortmunder.

From a 16oz can, dated 10/31/18. Dropped on the floor, badly dented, and then served in an imperial pint pub glass.
Pours a glowing, unfiltered bronze-gold with two-plus fingers of brilliantly white, soft, fluffy suds. Retention is pretty good, leaving an abiding cap and a complex pattern of thick lacing which looks like an inverted mercator map of oceans and land masses and... for god's sake, won't someone stop me?
A sweet, earthy, robust nose of damp cereal grain and ripe orchard fruit.
Tastes of sweetened porridge with a serious kick of peppery spice. Caramel apple, tobacco, and lots of spice. Sweetly malty, earthy and fruity with a spicy finish.
Feel is thick, doughy and slick, medium-hefty bodied with moderate but tingly carbonation lightening things up.
Apparently a new style for me or, at least, I haven't rated/reviewed a Dortmund lager before. I don't think I would have pegged it as a lager if it hadn't been printed on the can. It's a little thick and sweetly malty for my tastes on its own but I think it would be terrific with almost any meal.

First beer from these guys. Decided to stop by the brewery since I was in the area and Night Shift was closed for a private event.
This is pretty darn good. Figured I’d try a style you just don’t see very often. Served in a proper mug. Super malty, slightly sweet, grainy/grassy finish. Gets better as it warms, this is a rich and tasty lager. Easy drinking and satisfying, this made me a fan of Idle Hands.

Nice to see cans making distribution. Disclosure - I'm a novice of the style having only had one or two other offerings from different brewers so my rating reflects this.
Seeing this style from a local craft brewery not only showcases their skills but also how know-how is starting to translate beyond the IPA and stout categories. Cheers!
My layman's review - excellent lager with a crisp, clean feel at the right ABV.
Pours a moderately clear golden hue out of the can; a normal pour creates a solid 1-inch thick cap of foamy white head. Good looking beer.
Aroma is doughy, bready malt that leans more towards darker than lighter-roasted. Hint of floral and spicy hops play between the bookends followed by an appropriate bitterness. Slightly sweet but not to the level of tasting like caramel. Faint grassiness throughout.
This baby is a well-built lager so you're getting a nice semi-sweet semi-bitter body with a crisp snap courtesy of the carbonation. Good heft for the ABV; eminently drinkable. Clean and tasty.

Consumed 12/28/17
A: Medium gold - clear - pours with a medium sized eggshell white head, retains a mostly solid cap, medium sized collar, leaves some great lacing
S: Grainy with some nice depth of malt - bread, multigrain bread, lightly toasted bread, bread crust, crackers - pils malts - some light lager yeast, hint of pepper - notes of grass from the hops - some very light fruity esters - hints of citrus - some light sweetness and some darker notes of caramel
T: Malty but in a decidedly light way - as the aroma suggests, bread, grains, toasted bread, bread crust, toasted grains, biscuits, crackers - layers of malt flavors, with pale and caramel grains - slightly peppery lager yeast - very light notes of grassy hops - some fruity flavors, possibly esters, some citrus possibly from hops, some light and dark fruit definitely from the malts - some minerality - lightly sweet overall, definitely dry, super drinkable
M: On the light side of medium, crisp, mostly dry except for some light sweetness
O: Dortmunder I do
I've found lagers from Idle Hands to be consistently good and Klara is no slouch. I have not had enough Dortmunders over the years, but this seems to fit the style. It's a bit darker with some more pronounced toast and caramel flavors. It's great to see it in cans.

Pours a beautiful transparent golden, it is very effervescent and you can see the carb release upwards like snow falls. Some salty crackers on the nose. Very grain forward. Some sour dough bread. Some whole wheat. It's got some soft pretzel/unbuttered popcorn character. It's super clean and it hits the spot.
