Consumed 7/17/22
Medium gold, clear, pours with a medium-large white head, retains a cap and leaves some lacing
Pale malt, Munich malt, light grain, light bread, bread dough, crackers, light toast, hints of vaguely grassy hops, light malty and light honey sweetness, nice amount of smoke that is present in the aroma and appears late in the flavor profile, a delicate amount for a delicate lager
Light body, crisp, medium carbonation
This is about as Schlenkerla Helles as you can get without actually drinking Schlenkerla Helles. If you like Heide and are not afraid of a little smoke, this is required to try.

Clear yellow gold with a thick fine grained white head. Smoke is present but an equal player with the malt, so it's a really nice Helles lager with added interest instead of being a smoke fest.

With all the inconsistent tasting IPAs I’ve been tasting in the past several months, this lager is a welcome change. Clear golden color, 4F head in a Pilsener glass. Some fruit in the aroma, very balanced with just enough bitterness in the finish. Wonderfully smoky, but not overdone. This brewer can brew lagers!

Pours a clear pale yellow gold in color with nearly two fingers of white head. Aroma is smoky with a subtle, lightly malty note. Smoke is the dominant flavor here but it isn’t overwhelming. There is a nice Helles under the smoke with an almost honey sweetness and a grainy malt backbone. Light-medium in body with moderate plus carbonation, very smooth. This is a tough one to rate, the smoke note means it’s not strictly a Helles but the smoke doesn’t totally overwhelm the Helles character. In terms of a beer I want to drink this is way up there regardless of what style it is. It’s super tasty and drinkable with enough complexity to keep things interesting.

On tap at the brewery. Golden, thin just off white head, settles into floating foam and a medium collar.
Aroma of sweet applewood smoke and doughy malts.
Flavor is crisp and clean, smoky, not charcoal or cigarette smoky, clean light smoke with a level of honey sweetness.
Moderate carbonation and just under medium body.
Very tasty, delicate but full flavored, one of my favorite brews from a busy Boston beer weekend.
