Mystic Table Beer traces its roots back to a time when water was never an option at the dining table. Beer from 1.2-4.5% ABV was served at the table as well as in the fields in the form of saison. Its flavor and texture are derived from our house yeast strain, ‘Renaud’ as well as traditional bottle-conditioning.

My favorite everyday beer. When Mystic threw in the towel last year (or so) I realized I had to make my own homebrew saisons because my favorite brewer was no more. Mystic was the best and most under rated brewery in a world that wouldn't know a good saison if it sat on their face. When this hop fad is over I hope all breweries make saisons. None will be as good as Mystic. Their yeast was unique and made an excellent beer. Mystic Table Beer was the best every day brew. I hope Mystic comes back preferably in the Metro West area of MASS.

Damn, I'm going to miss these guys. Just had their Table Beer the day before the brewery closes. I have been familiar with the brewery for over a year because I like their IPAs, but I should have had their flagship sooner. Good stuff gone too soon.

Canned three weeks ago (fresh saison!) and poured into a glass. Straw colored, slightly cloudy, frothy white head; an aggressive pour yields an aggressive head.

Aroma is on the lighter side but by no means faint - it's more restrained. Fruity esters give way to green apple, light banana and apricot. Earthy slightly spicy body before giving way to the fruity yeast and a tart peck on the cheek.

Light and refreshing, easy drinking but not watered down. Nice complement to a meal.

Great saison here. Excellent blend of floral, earthy spicy hops and yeast with a light malt base. Flavorful and well-rounded, yet light and crisp enough to drink it all day any day.

Very nice!

A little aging comparison on this one. I have two different brewings of Table Beer; a can dated 5/11/18 (~2.5 months old) and one dated 7/6/18 (just under 3 weeks old). I'll be talking about the fresher one first then going back over the older one.

Pours a cloudy dark straw in the glass with a finger of fluffy white head, that dissipated quickly. Nose starts off with some earthy tea and moves in to spiced green apple, pale grain, musty yeast and a hint of floral. Taste has much more toasty breadiness to the grain note, and a pronounced clove character to the spiciness. The apple lingers in the aftertaste longer than the other flavors. I also get a hint of banana after making my way through the glass, subtle. Mouthfeel is a dry yet crisp medium-light body that is well carbonated.

The 5/11 brew was way more of a bright golden-straw color and much murkier, almost the opaque appearance of an NEIPA, with a little more head. Nose was significantly more muted than the 3 week version, I was able to detect most of the same notes but I lost the crispness of the apple + floral note. On taste the toasted grain and pronounced clove I got on the fresh brew were more mellowed, allowing the other flavors to stick out. I even get a little orange zest mixed in that I couldn't detect on the first. Less taxing on the palette. Mouthfeel on this one is less crisp and much smoother, entering the medium body category with a little less carbonation. Whatever they did on this brewing, I like it more than the thinner/crisper newer brew.

Overall, a great lower ABV choice that I could see pairing up with a wide selection of foods. If I had the choice between the two brewings, I would go for a fresher version of the 5/11 can, but not straight from the kettle, maybe ~a month out.

On tap at Row 34 In Boston. Acloudy straw yellow, chill haze. With minimal to no head. Low on carbonation. Nose is mellow and smooth. Notes of green apple skins, bananas and bread. Taste is really quite pleasant. Green apples, grape skin, light bananas mingle with a light touch of clove, peppercorns and other baking spices. There is a nice mild and I stress mild funkiness to this one. Some lemon and citrus notes flow throughout as well as a herbal tea like quality to it. Medium to light body with a nice dry crisp apple finish, almost dry cider like. A very nice Farmhouse.
