Mouthfeel was a little too flat, though not undrinkable. Maybe a bottling issue.

Very smooth, can't taste the high alcohol content at all. Reminds me of Le Fin du Monde

Tap from Hop City Birmingham. Pours dark brown with almost no head. Aroma of raisons, dates and booze. Tastes of has much of dark fruits, molasses, sweet candy and booze. Full bodied. Very good

a - poured a one finger thick light tan head into a tulip glass that left a thin ring throughout. the body was a bright reddish-brown color.
s - big belgian yeast aromas with some maltiness. dark fruit aromas come through as well.
t - woody with a light cherry flavor and a toasty finish.
m - medium.
o - really enjoyable beer. maybe my favorite from yellowhammer so far. the cherrywood is very subtle but you know it's there. it really adds a lot to this beer.

Appearance is a red brown color with a 1 finger reddish tan head.
Aroma is dark fruit, cherries, figs, raisins.
Flavor is cherries, oak, and tart but not sweet.
You don't pick up on the alcohol at all.
Mouthfeel is really nice on this one, perfect carbonation.
Outstanding local beer.

Poured from 32 oz growler into goblet.

A: Ruby tinted dark brown with a slight one finger head that dissipated quickly. Not much if any lacing.

S: Dark fruits, raisin, and caramel mixed with Belgian yeast. A little bit of earthiness which I suppose is from the cherry wood.

T: Fairly big malts up front. Nice sweetness that is typical of a good Belgian dark. Some spiciness and hints of cherry in the back.

M: Fairly light but full bodied. Lightly carbonated.

O: A really nice Belgian dark. The subtle flavors from the cherry wood adds a nice touch. Perfect fall beer. Glad that I grabbed a couple of bottles to save for later.

I had this brew at the magic city brewfest. I then found it on tap a J. Clyde. Wow this is a deceiving brew. There is no doubt three alcohol is prevalent. The brew is very easy to ship. I loved it. The dark hue, raisin lighter that expected malt feel allowed the alcohol to breathe but was not overwhelming at 10.50% abv. This brew was aged on cherry wood for three months. Most definitely a brew that if you are a bug Belgian strong brew lover this one is for you. Another Yellowhammer top notch brew. Now I cannot wait until this fall so I can get it again. Maybe sample a little from last year and this year. Hopefully someone will be able to do a vertical tasting. :-)
