L: Pours hazy amber under a 2” foam collar that hugs the side of the glass.
S: banana, caramel, herbal and spice aromas waft from the glass.
T: Attacks with big fruit flavors beginning towards pineapple and peach before moving towards banana seasoned with light herbs and spices.
F: Creamy medium light body and above average carbonation.
O: An easy to drink Belgian Golden Ale that hides its alcohol well.

A golden amber tap pour into a chalice with one finger head and light lacing on the drink. Good carbonation. An excellent nose, redolent of bananas, spices and yeasty esters. The flavor is complex, banana bready with nutmeg and a touch of alcohol on a backbone of bready malt. The mouthfeel is a little thinner than I'd like but still medium bodied. The alcohol is warming on the tongue but not excessively so.

Overall, an excellently enjoyable brew. I likes it muchly. A little pricey at $6 a pour.

Poured from tap into a pint glass at the Harriet tap room.

Appearance: A deep clear golden color with a nice white creamy foam head that leaves a nice white cap throughout and some sticky lacing.

Smell: Sweet Belgian yeast and wheat with a little toasted malt and some spices like nutmeg and clove. Welcoming.

Taste: Sweet and fruity with just the right amount of malt and spice. For an 8.5 ABV beer, you can't really taste the alcohol much.

Overall: A really nicely done Belgian Strong Ale. Has all the right flavors in all the right places and a good blend of yeast, spice and malt.

Got this on tap at a recent venture out to Harriet. The color was very light hay, cloudy and had thin white head. Smells were strongly lactic and sour. Mouthfeel was smooth and not abrasive. I was disappointed with the taste. Not very sour. Overall, it just tasted like sour milk in the finish to me. I love sours, so this was sad. There was good citrus notes in the front of the pallet, though. Glad I tried it, don't want it again.

Was not planning on drinking this the night I bought but the growler started leaking. Pours a hazy golden color with two fingers of head that fill the tulip glass beautifully. The head eventually settles to a thick cap. A lot of sticky lacing is left down the glass.

At first I pick up a lot of fruity esters. Hints of pears, bananas, and grapes. But eventually some spicy phenols sneak in as well. Can pick up the pale malt with hints of bread and grains. This could fool me into thinking it was from Belgium.

The flavor starts of fruity with a semi-dry malt flavor but eventually the phenols sneak in and take over in the finish. Not quite as vinous as many Belgian examples tend to be, but still a lot of esters to round out the flavor. Hints of pears and cloves. No sign of alcohol.

Full and rich body. The carbonation is spot on so I am glad I did not put off drinking the growler until later.

I tend to judge American examples of Belgian styles more harshly, but this almost is there as far as fooling me it came from Belgium. One of the better New World examples of the style.

Has this at Señor Womg in St Paul

Smell: Faint and fruity with the belgium yeast coming througha little light on the scent side but the style is like that

Appearance: gden and very pale, clear with very little foam and no lacing

Taste: crisp and fruity with very little alcohol coming through. Tasty and it hides its 8.5% very well

Overall: very nice and quite drinkable,

On tap at tap room.
Poured into snifter type glassware with a less than inch head that receded surprisingly quickly. The cap covered a golden ale that was slightly cloudy.
Nice doughy quality to the aroma. I like the yeast they use. It is nicely balanced with soft yeast and soft spiciness. It's an enjoyable balance.
Flavors are reasonably complex. Malt is more straight pale malt but it does take on a slight doughy quality later. Hopping also shows later in a soft flavor and then a soft but assertive bitterness that lingers nicely through a long and soft (there I go using that word again) dryness on the finish. Soft fruits (light colored) and hints of spiciness. Minimal alcohol flavor or even warming, surprising considering the abv.
Really clean quality, especially for an ale.
Moderately light body a tad on flatter side for style (no problem for me).
I like Harriet's beers and this one is no exception. Enjoyable product. Soft flavors all around that blend nicely.

On tap at the brewery during tap room hours.
Pours a brilliant clear straw yellow with terrific tight white head of small bubbles that lingers for the entire downing of the glass.

The smell is distinctly Belgian with notes of clear candy sugar, spices (thyme?), and yellow raisins. Slight note of dms from pils malt. Some fruitiness as well.

Strong phenolic flavor from the yeast brings out spiciness and fruity esters. Pils malt drops in some complexity. Bitter, herbal, and medium dry finish.

High carbonation works well for this beer.

Overall this is a good example of the style but not entirely impressive. The herbal nature is a bit too intense for my taste.

Appearance: Arrives with a clear golden color and an impressive Belgian head that leaves an abundance of lace

Smell: Bubblegum, pear and clove esters

Taste: The biscuity malt underpins the esters that were detected in the aroma with candi sugar adding sweetness by mid-palate; a little bit of hoppy bitterness is detectable just after the swallow, but the finish has a nice blend of the sweet and spicy elements

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with high carbonation and some warmth from the ABV

Overall: These guys know their Belgian brewing technique; a first class domestic example of the style

Quite clear golden color, capped with thick white head.

Smells quite funky, some bold Belgian yeast is making itself known to my nose. Banana, a little honeysuckle medicinal sweetness.

Again, the funk is assertive with the same yeasty/banana flavor. Starts off mildly sweet, finishes with a bit of band-aid taste + sour, and just a touch of hops that feels a little out of place. I feel like this beer is wanting a little more malt to give some balance to the yeast flavors. Things just aren't quite "gelling" the way they should.

Mouthfeel is a little wet, slick.

Some cool stuff happening with this beer and its parent brewery, but I feel like the fundamentals are a little off on this.

Nice creamy body that fades a little faster then some. Smells like a wonderful Belgain beer, orange vanella and aprocot notes. Taste is solid but has a little too much of a alchol taste once beer warms. I would also call out that the beer is a little thin but I believe this is the result of the ABV.

My first time out at the brewery last week. I was able to walk with the gf from her house only a few blocks. That was pretty awesome.
Pretty chill place to fill growlers, sit on couches and drink beer/ talk with the brewers.

Poured from the growler into a stemless wine glass.
Head at first was fairly thick, creating about an inch of white. Quick to recede with only a small ring around the collar.
Color is true to style, presenting a brilliant golden color with a bit of unfiltered yeasty haze.
Aroma is divine, just as the tittle of the beer would assume it to be.
Straw, barnyard funk, malt, banana and cloves. Sweet and fruity with a little of that typical belgian sourness.
Taste is almost identical to aroma, except with more fruity sour funk and yeasty bread flavor.
Slightly peppery too.
Mouthfeel is providing quite a bit of carbonation tickle, but also balancing with a little slickness.

Overall this is one of the better, if not top 3 best in style for me. Not usually a fan of this style really. But I do like this one.
Had it on-tap a few times at the nile in its altered orange peel versions. I did seem to like those much better. but this is still a fantastic beer.
So pumped that I can walk a few blocks and pick it up, be greeted at the door and get fantastic locally brewed beer.

Served on-draught into a tulip in a bar in St. Paul, Minnesota. Reviewed from notes. I didn't have any expectations. Not paired with food.

A: Pours a half finger head of slight cream, fair thickness, and awful retention. Semitransparent gold colour.

Sm: Must, hops, and barley. Moderate in strength and bland.

T: Mild handful of hops, milky caramelized malt, and plain boring barley as a foundation. It's a bit simple, and boring at that. It's decently balanced and built, but why brew this?

Mf: Smooth and wet, with some sharpness - perhaps overcarbonation. Kind of complementary of the flavours, but certainly not tailored to them.

Dr: Drinkable but boring. I'd never get it again. Even fans of the style will likely find it disappointing. Drink and forget, lads. Drink and forget.

Had a pint from the bar at Tilia in Minneapolis. Wow, this surprised me. It tastes like the best I've tried of Unibroue's strong pales. There's a rich spice, but with a stronger, cutting bitterness that makes this beer distinctly American. This ale can hang with the best of Belgium, but offers a stateside twist with the spicy hops kicking in with the herbal spice of the yeast. Despite the strength it feels like and effervescent thanks to spot-on carbonation. Find this beer and enjoy.

A-Dark golden orange appearance, with a moderate off-white colored head.

S-Yeasty banana esters are noticeable, with some clove spiciness and malty goodness. Some spicy hops are also apparent.

T-Nice malt backbone, balanced with some bitter hops. Lots of yeasty fruitiness present.

M-Heavier than some of the other Belgian strong golden ales I've had. I like the mouthfeel of this beer. More like a good tripel.

D-Good for the style-this growler won't last long.

Overall this beer hides the high alcohol content very nicely (dangerous!) and has a good balance of flavors. A very nice version of this style. They are doing a real good job at Harriet brewing. Am excited to try their saison which will be coming soon. Great addition to the Minneapolis beer scene!

A- pours a hazy golden sunset color with a nice head and a fresh collar..with lacing on the glass

S- is golden and fresh.. bananas and clove mixed with fruits like oranges and apricots .so fresh

T- is fresh fruits..bananas and peach oranges .. mix with malts oh and yes some hops are front and center..clove and apples finish this off

M- is burst and fresh with loads pf belgian flavor..very nice

D- such a beautiful brew so fresh so good so delicious

I was given a growler of Divine Oculust Belgian Golden Strong by my brother, who had tried it at the brewery.

Pours a hazy orange/gold color with tiny carbonation bubbles and about 1/2 a finger of white, airy head.

The aroma is similar to many Belgian-style beers, which I discern as notes of banana and bubblegum. However, there is also an interesting (and unexpected) apricot note to it as well.

This beer has a pretty significant apricot flavor. So much so, that it could be confused for an apricot ale, if you didn't know otherwise. As someone who enjoys Apricot Ale, this is a positive. It has a light lingering finish, without too much warming from the alcohol. In fact, I wouldn't have guessed that this was a nearly 9% beer from tasting it. This beer goes down easily enough that you could have a few pints without thinking much about it.

Divine Oculust makes me excited for what Harriet Brewing is going to bring to the MN craft beer market. I didn't have high expectations going into this, given the newness of the brewery, but I would absolutely buy this beer again and recommend it to others.

Harriet Brewing Divine Oculust, whatever that might be, (an opthalmologist of the soul, perhaps? Belgian-style Strong Golden Ale.

Pours a hazy dark golden, it's too laden with yeast to cast a true golden hue, somewhere between amber and orange, this with a nice, big pure white head, that slims down, but stays steady.

Aroma: some sweetness, but mostly Belgian yeast funk, and malt. Fruity esters, some apricot and peach, orange rind riding under, minor hops, very much in the style of a Belgian pale ale.

Taste: Big and fruity, large malt flavor, really dominates the palate with light but predominant fruit character. Some bitter hops character rides the palate, but doesn't intrude or take charge, just sits in and says a few things. Yeasty, malty Belgian character is the main factor, the body is medium, and it's leaning on pretty damned tasty. That's the thing, truly. Although, not quite as crisp and delicate as a real Belgian golden, like Duvel, and really leaning towards a triple. Above all, it's definitely delicious. Sweet-ish, wild, crazy, funky, fresh, and zesty, too. I come close to calling it yummy. Heck, who knows, I just might. Yum, yummy, yum, yum. Me likey.

Alcohol comes in strong after a bit, but it drinks down with ease, all the same.

Here's what I love. They 're causing a genuine stir, and getting neighborhood folks in their doors to pick up a growler of a beer like this, many of whom may not understand the style, or perhaps have never taken the plunge into Belgians. This is their stepping stone. They are brought in by the idea of partaking in the new local good and service, the novel idea of an actual brewery in their neighborhood, but making these somewhat esoteric styles. Someone takes one home for the family dinner because they heard about it, and thinks, "this is beer?" It's their first Belgian style ale, and maybe they'll check out the real stuff, and keep going back to Harriet and fostering their progress, and allowing them to keep making great small batch Belgian-styles, just for this community.
