On tap at the brewery into a nonic.

A-While labeled red, this beer is closer to amber in color with just light hints of red. The head on my glass is pretty short and it fades quickly to a thin collar that hangs around. The beer is clear with no lacing or carbonation to be seen.

S-The aroma is pretty subdued. The defining character is a musty barley husky and grain note, with mild notes of peppery spice and light, leafy bitterness. The smell is not off-putting, but there is not a lot happening here.

T-The taste is similar to the smell. A lightly sharp note of rye and pepper spices mixes in and out with a slightly husk-like grain flavor. The beer is on the sweet side, but somewhat dry for the style. A little bit of cocoa creeps in as I sip more. The finish is pretty long and vaguely bitter.

M-The body is robust with a nice volume of slightly crisp carbonation. A good fit and easy to drink.

O-This beer, like others I have tried from Bonfire, does not set the world on fire. It feels nice and is perfectly drinkable, so while it would make for a nice quaff while watching the game and eating pretzels, I would not seek this out.
