I stopped in at the tasting room one night with my wife and her mother. We'd just sat down and before I'd even noticed it on the beer list, they'd already ordered the blueberry ale. They were giddy with excitement at how good it was! I, however, found it fairly basic. It's obviously just the Florida Avenue with blueberry extract added. They don't use any fruit, and it's basically the same blueberry ale you've had in brewpubs across the country for the last 20 years - that's not to say it's bad, just that it's fairly common. I thought it was nicely balanced with enough, but not too much, blueberry. And there's a well-balanced beer behind that. It is what it is, and I'm glad they're doing it because it should bring in business. Worth trying.

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

The pour was a clear pale yellow with a huge (3-4 finger) white frothy head that receded rather quickly (doing so in the first minute), down to a thin cap with fair spotty lacing.

The aroma was of a grain malt, a light earthy yeast and a mild grassy hop with a big note of blueberry.

The taste was lightly sweet with a mild blueberry presence throughout and possessed a nice mild wheat presence towards the end. Flavor was short lived with a light taste of blueberry that faded steadily towards the finish.

Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a mild carbonation.

Overall a very light and refreshing Wheat Ale that is quite drinkable and easy going down. Although there is nothing that really stands out in this beer, it is a great summer session brew...

Poured into a Kwak glass. Says for the freshest taste enjoy by May 2012.

A- Pours a straw-like see-through yellow color with a 1/4 inch head that immediately vanishes to a paper-thin ring with some foam formation on the surface. Barely any lacing.

S- Smells like fresh, wild blueberries but doesn't linger very long. Possibly some spice notes but, if so, also faint.

T- Not as exciting as the smell. Hardly any true blueberry flavor. Mostly just sugary sweetness that lets up quickly leaving a bland flavor that some would mistake for wheat but is probably just corn or rice (don't quote me on that). If I were to guess an ABV, it'd definitely be below 5% since it goes down like water.

M- Watery like I said. Medium-low carbonation brings very little to the table.

O- I keep sipping this beer hoping that it'll get better but to no avail. A major letdown since I really enjoyed their IPA. A young brewery though, so hopefully they're just getting warmed up.

Poured into a pint glass

A - Light golden in color, with a slight haze. Poured a white foamy head the quickly diminished. Didn't leave any lace around the glass.
S - Very present smell of blueberries. The smell is so overpowering that couldn't pick up any other smells
T - Taste follows the nose...blueberries. The blueberry taste stays with you all the way throughout the aftertaste. Was able to pick up a slight floral type taste at the end of the aftertaste.
M - Highly carbonated, crisp, and refreshing
O - I've had other blueberry flavored beer, but this one actually has a prominent taste of blueberries. Its not a complex beer, but you get what you purchased the beer for - blueberries. Would recommend to someone who enjoys fruity type cocktails.

Pours light yellow with a nice fluffy white head.

Smells like fresh blueberries and not much else.

Tastes as promised. Lots of sweet blueberries with an unexpected, yet pleasant floral quality thrown in there. Finishes with blueberries and light blueberry blossoms.

The feel is chewy, but not entirely unpleasant.

Overall, this was ok for what it was. The base beer could be better. I am still undecided if the blueberries taste authentic or synthetic.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a nonic. Pours a hazy golden color crested with two fingers of pillowy white head. Head retains well and laces decently. Aroma? Blueberries. Lots and lots of blueberries. Fairly one-dimensional, but at least it's a pretty good dimension. The taste hits with blueberries right away, which fade to a slight wheat backbone reminiscent of the normal Florida Avenue Ale.

The mouthfeel is crisp, refreshing, and well-carbonated, and the drinkability is also very good, especially since the aftertaste is that of wheat, not blueberries. This is just a good, simple fruit beer. It tastes like blueberries with a slight wheat backup. Was I going to expect anything else that says nothing but BLUEBERRY on the label? Nope. Not at all. It does what it sets out to achieve.

Thanks for sharing this one, Bobby.

A: The pour is a pale golden straw color with a finger of quickly dissipating white head.

S: Blueberry extract is the name of the game on the nose. Sweet and slightly syrupy/sugary blueberry aroma with just a little bit of malt and grain aroma and sweetness.

T: Tastes like blueberry too, which is a good thing. The flavor is nowhere near as artificial as I expected after smelling the beer. There's a nice flavor of blueberry skins. A touch of sweet malt and bread in the background.

M: Fairly light in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: For what this is, it's pretty solid, actually.

Got all three of the Florida Avenue brews while in St. Petersburg at the Pier. Now when I go back I'll grab pictures of the bottles. Oh well.

Poured a fair apple/yellow with no retained head and fairly lightly carbonated w/ little lingering bubbles. Slight blueberry and grass on the nose. It was server very cold and it felt a bit thin. It was smooth, no discernible aftertaste, and consistent across the whole glass.

It was a particularly hot afternoon and this was a welcome refreshment. I would have it again under similar circumstances but I wouldn't seek it out as a regular.

The new brewery in town, Cold Storage... I wonder if it is time for CCB to start quakin' in their collective boots?

Pours as clear as glass with virtually no head, pale golden in color.

A fair amount of blueberry aroma wafts from the glass, not much else.

From the description-look-smell, I was expecting a Sea Dog Blue Paw clone, and that is basically what this is. Pretty decent for what it is.
