Notes: Amplified recipe of the normal Aphotic, yielding an increase in ABV, with engaging chocolate notes from an addition of Ghanaian cacao nibs.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high frothy off white head.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolate malts, licorice, and cocoa nibs are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, starting out with flavors of licorice and finishing with sweeter notes of cocoa nibs.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite drinkable for a Baltic Porter and goes down rather easily as it isn't overly heavy on the palate.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours an extremely dark brown with 1 inch tan head that slowly settles to a thin skim. No light comes through with backlighting. Aphotic? Check.
S: Dark bitter chocolate, medium roast coffee, anise, dry leather, and a hint of dark dry fruit.
T: Smooth dark chocolate, medium roast coffee with cream, leather, dark dried fruit, caramel, and, with warming, a hint of hops emerges around the edges.
M: Super smooth with velvety feel. Envelopes the palate with its dark sweetness. Mildly dry and bitter. Lingers and matures nicely on the palate too. The hefty ABV is imperceptible...light-medium body which is crazy.
D: An extremely drinkable imperial porter. The cacao nibs merge beautifully with the base beer. Would do well as a nice digestif. Not too complex, but doesn't have to be.
