Served in bubble pint glass. Poured a very dark brown, just a slight bit of translucence, with 1/2 of tan head that had nice retention and left thick, sticky lacing.

A rich malt aroma greets the nose, nice grains, a noticeable bit of roast and just a touch of sweetness were most apparent. On the tongue the roast flavors were dominant, with a bit of sweetness in the middle and lingering roast hanging around on the finish.

The body was nicely full without being heavy and was smooth and even across the tongue. Drinkability was very good, I could easily sip several of these on a rainy Northwest day. Overall, I found beer to be bordering on a Porter, it's considerably more substantial than most Brown Ales. It's a full and pleasing beer that took the Bronze Medal at the 2011 GABF. A must try if you see it.
