This first wort-hopped IPA has a harmonious explosion of hop flavor and aroma. A hazy head leads drinkers toward a beer rich in citrus and earthy flavors with a smooth and rich finish. The complex floral and citrusy tones from the Citra and Simcoe hops welcome you, while two more aromatic varietals mate perfectly with specialty malts for an unmatched aroma.

Grabbed a sixer of these at some corner market in Paso Robles. Poured out a dark copper color, auburn, that kind of thing. Aroma, depends on which bottle I had. The first, the usual citrus aroma and a little malty heaviness. Subsequent bottles were a mixed bag, some of the bittersweet hop transformation, malt soggy woodness.

Taste, plenty bitter, a substantial beer, every bit of 2 row used to give the beer a hefty mouthfeel. Abundant caramel. Depending on which bottle, sometimes a little sweeter. Being that I got this at a corner market, and no apparent bottle dating, who knows why the bottles were a mixed bag. Overall, the hopping seems to be of the desireable kind, cascade, citra, simcoe probably.

Good beers in a style and geographical glut. Worth trying, I dunno about going back, just would depend on what else is around, some stores, this will be the best thing on the shelf.

bottle mailed to me in a trade. happy to try some . no package date found. mostly piney driven, seems more simcoe than citra. a touch of sweet malt, but not much there. pretty west coast. showing minor signs of oxidation.
not bad, but would like to try a fresher sample. this one seems a little past its prime.

Darker amber, but not quite brown. Mild haze. Small head but it's thick and slow to recede. Some streaks on the glass for lace.

Mostly earthy aroma with some caramelized malt. Some grapefruit rind in the background.

The taste is more caramelized malt than earthiness. The finish is bitter but not too strong (the bottle notes 72 IBUs). Long aftertaste. Full bodied with decent carbonation. Overall, a pretty easy to drink IPA.

Not a bad ipa . . . I think this may have been a tad older than a couple months. Malty aromas and flavors. Possibly just a shell of what it is supposed to be fresh.

Aroma was a bit sweet and malty, some herbal/dank hops present - some butterscotch alcohol. Medium bitterness, some decent hop bit - hard to place the hops style but more of a middle american style than West coast. Reminds me of something that might have come from Oscar Blues. Mouth feel is a bit heavy - some sticky malt is present all the way through. Middle of the road IPA IMO.

On-tap at Succulent Cafe Wine Charcuterie, Solvang, CA

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles in the center, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has some flavors of caramel malts along with strong notes of citrusy hops, the latter of which contributes a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has a very good balance between the malts and hops.

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. My second beer from Tap It Brewing Co., acquired a single bottle of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.

Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.

A - A juicy hazed golden orange body, one finger of thin wispy frothy white head that leaves minor spotty lacing. Appears adequately carbonated. Some sediment visible in the glass. Looks good.

S - Aroma is grassy & earthy, with bready notes of sweetened caramelized malts, toffee, and candied orange. Has that earthy spicy horseradish note that I sometimes find.

T - Taste is the same: sweetened caramel malts, toffee, candied orange / orange peel, lemon zest / pith, grass, herbs. The malts are definitely the main players here, far overshadowing any hop presence. Not sticky, dank, piney, or resinous, not typical of West Coast style IPA's.

M - Feel is smooth & creamy, sweet & sticky, with crisp carbonation. Medium-bodied, but easy drinking for the moderate 7.00% abv.

Overall, a caramel / toffee malt forward IPA; and the Berghoff IPA I had the other day was a better example of malt forward IPA's like this one. An average offering from Tap It Brewing, as others have said, you are sure to find something better coming out of California.

Darker color, bordering on a darker amber/auburn concoction. Aroma was a little bit of citrus and caramel malt smells.

Definitely a bitter beer. A little bit of hop flavor. Like they used 90% c hops and threw some proprietary shit in there, but not enough. Its decent enough and in a 12oz/6 pack format. Its a crowded market, but this is decent enough to pick up if youre at a corner market or whatnot. I don't see it being a choice when there are ample other choices, you're going to find something else in California that is probably better.

A lightly carbonated beer on the lighter side for an IPA with mild hops. Overall well-rounded flavors with a refreshing feel to it though not my first choice for IPAs.
