Tap It IPATap It IPA

Brewed by:
Tap It Brewing Co.
California, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This first wort-hopped IPA has a harmonious explosion of hop flavor and aroma. A hazy head leads drinkers toward a beer rich in citrus and earthy flavors with a smooth and rich finish. The complex floral and citrusy tones from the Citra and Simcoe hops welcome you, while two more aromatic varietals mate perfectly with specialty malts for an unmatched aroma.

citrusy and piney. you know, an ipa. Moderate bitterness. Has some bready, sweet maltiness. It's got a good balance between "dankness" and just being an easy drinking ipa. It's mos def hop forward but not a palette wrecker. I think it's fairly sessionable for the style. For some reason I could see this being one of those "go to" ipa's for when nothing else is striking a chord at the store, despite the fact that it doesn't distinguish itself from the rest of the pack. Not mind blowing by any means but certainly a solid west coast ipa. Cheers!

At first I rated this lower, but upon trying some more IPA's, I went back and boosted the rating. It's really refreshing for an IPA, and great on a hot summer day. Color is slightly dark, but also nicely golden. Behind the bitterness is a sense of sweetness. Crisp.

On nitro-tap at BC's Pizza and Beer

A: starts a gorgeous light yellow cascade of nitro bubbles, then fades into a golden yellow with a healthy amount of creamy white head

S: Subdued citrus hops, some malt sweetness. Not much going on here, though that might be due to the nitro

T: Citrus hops, grapefruit and pine bitterness, malt sweetness, clean finish

M: Creamy and quite light, but also a bit watery

O: Bites more as it warms up, but I think the nitro tames it a bit too much. Definitely want to try again bottled or on regular tap.
