750mL into a tulip. Pours a hazy pale yellow w/ a 1-finger white head.

Aroma is bright, clean, crisp, grassy, earthy, funky.

Taste follows nose. Grassy, rustic, slightly spicy and a touch citrusy. Juicy without feeling sweet. Great balance of flavors with none dominating.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp with a nice dry finish. Plenty of body for such a low ABV beer.

Overall a really great session saison. This would go great with a variety of foods.

Golden color with a white foam and plenty of lacing in the St. Bernardus globe. Sudsy and quite tangy on the tongue. Light body. Fragrant with funk and a grainy scent.

Pleasant cereal and malty flavor. It makes me think of Cheerios. Some bitterish notes, but less yeasty than a lot of Saisons, which seems appropriate for this lower-alcohol brew. The slight sweetness also adds to the drinkability. Flavors are light and sophisticate, but there's that really inviting funky and fruity flavor. I forgot about the peppercorns, but maybe there is just a spicy hint, and maybe that adds to the pleasure.

An excellent session-style brew and I hope that more lower ABV Saisons will be part of the future. The $10.49 price tag is a bit much to swallow, however. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

a pretty classic belgian saison, simple, almost table beer at its core, with pink peppercorns. a really nice beer from these guys, who always excite me and never under deliver. interestingly enough, here isnt a whole lot going on with this one, its a real straight ahead base beer, wheaty but light and clean and dry, yeasty but way more belgian and estery than rustic, farmy, or least of all funky. it has a light tartness, but isnt bacterial to me at all. the pink peppercorns are cool in here, concentrated and floral and spicy at the same time as perfumey and herbaceous, a bit much in the nose but i like it being so strong. more balanced in the flavor with lemon and white peach notes from the yeast and the light wheat malt as well. there is an almost soda character to this in the feel, popping carbonation and light as can be in body, very simple stuff. heavy floral, hibiscus, even jasmine here, fruity from the peppercorns too, dried but very dynamic still, and begian yeasty to finish. not as dramatic and unique as some of the commons beers, but every bit as tasty in overall flavor and quality. these guys are just fantastic!
