Right out of primary fermentation this beer is decidedly an American Pale Ale, but as it enters secondary, a bridge to Belgium is built with a dose of Brettanomyces Bruxellensis. A 5 week maturation results in slightly dry, fruity beer with a hint of floral Brett character that will evolve over time.

Body is a deeper amber/copper than I would have expected and is less clear, but not really cloudy/hazy/particulate or anything, just... opaque. Quick fuzzy white head that fades down to just an island and ring around the glass.
Nose is a pleasant blend of light fruity sweetness and lush brett tartness. Straightforward and just really well blended and inviting.
Not as sour as I would expect, but a nice tart balance settled in with the gentle fruity bitter of the hops and a kind of woody depth to the middle that keeps the whole thing on an even keel. An interesting and enjoyable take on the hops/brett combo idea. Finish lingers with just the perfect level of both tart and bitter, though it does bring in just enough of the sweet belgiany esters that I'm less fond of, but feel appropriate in the context of the beer as a whole.
Efffervescent carbonation that brings short lived aggressive bubbles and a good medium body with some stickiness to the finish.
This is a really nice one overall, and I can see why the local forums mourned its loss when Commons went under. I could definitely see myself grabbing more if I were to come across back stock somewhere.

Just a beautiful beer. Golden orange and solid looking. Light funk, acid, and orchard fruit aromas and flavors, in a light, crisp, inoffensive overall package. So nice to see this beer on tap from time to time again. Cheers.

Thanks to Thomas & Jenny for this one!
Bright golden orange, lasting coverage and spotty lace.
Aroma has a light wet hay funk and a tea leaf note.
Tart with a mild acidity, lemony and fruity with a light dry funk.
Highly effervescent, a little coarse at first, but appropriate for the style.

This pours an orange tinted tan. Tremendous foam, at least initially, and an incredible bouquet that I can smell from an arms length away. There's a real mellow barnyard funk, with a light touch of cherry undertones. Restrained and nuanced. This was utterly fantastic. A treat with each sip.

the commons makes some incredible rustic funky beers, their attention to detail and high quality in all they do is sometimes most on display in their simpler beers. there is nothing simple about the flavors here, but the process is rather basic, especially as wild beer goes, and despite it being somewhat untraditional stylistically, being an american pale at its core. i think its a little maltier than that, a pale red hue is in here, faintly behind the hazy wheaty looking base, an effervescent bubbling collects into a full inch of eggshell white head, looking very much alive. i get a shot of fruity vinegar on the nose, tons of wild yeast that seems unmolested by any wood maturation (not sure this ever sees oak), cherry, tang, floral hops, a cereal medley in nice proportion, and an overall delicate vibe. more acidity than we normally expect brett to produce on its own, a sort of flanders vinegar thing going on, just way more mild. a little fruity belgian yeast element comes on a bit too it seems, soft funk too, musty but bright. not as hoppy in the flavor as the nose, but there are some bitter highs to the finish. hearty beer while also being really airy in texture, a unique feel i have noticed in other of their beers. a huge thanks to my homie for bringing this one over last night. from a quality standpoint, it stood out in a very impressive lineup of ales...

Thanks to JLindros for sharing.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear copper hue with a fat two finger white head that fades to leave thin wisps.
S - Aromas of light grassy hops, nice funk almost creamy lactic lemon acid. Very nice brett brux.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, very nice funk, I'm missing the lactic lemon creaminess too. There is very good light brux too.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, fluffy, clean.
O - Overall this was a solid beer with a nice almost berry funk, really good barnyard funk.
