look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Appearance: Pours coffee-colored with a thick khaki head; decent retention and a nice sheet of lace

Smell: Coffee, chocolate, black licorice and toasted black bread

Taste: Toasted black bread and licorice forward, with coffee building through the middle; some sweeter chocolate tones emerge, after the swallow, though the coffee lingers boldly in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A pleasant drinker with good coffee flavor; would benefit from a bit more oomph and a fuller mouthfeel

Thanks, jmueller216, for the opportunity

L- pours a less than impenatrable black with a thin, tan head that swirls.
S- A nice coffee bean smell with a vanilla malt that softens.
T- The coffee is not pverbearing, as the chocolate malt does not allow. Vanilla notes with much sweetness.
F- Thinner body with nice roasting in end.

L: pours brown but looks black in the glasss
S: coffee, rather light coffee but all coffee. Smith coffee, not bitter
T: exactly like the nose. A thin, not bitter, rather decent session coffee stout.
F: thin...hard for me to enjoy session stouts these days

Pours black with a small head. The smell is all coffee. The taste is like someone burnt some espresso then watered it down to try and correct the problem. I tried this beer twice and poured it out both times. It's thin, watery, and the most coffee-est forward beer I've ever had. I know some people who love this, but it's just not for me.

really great coffee beer, the essence of great coffee is here, earthy and roasty in the nose, bitter and pungent in the taste, somewhat acidic but also real smooth in the feel, they must have brewed this with a ton of coffee or coffee beans, its intense from first sniff to last drop, and although i have liked all the beers i have had from these guys so far, this might be my favorite. not too thick or heavy, not too much bitter dark grain, it lets the coffee do a great majority of the flavoring, and its drinkable too, not one of those 10% abv imperial beers that take an hour to drink, this is a slinger, an awesome cold weather beer too, something warming about it. it has me real keen to try the local coffee its made with too, something unique about it or the way it was added here. slight caramel, slight hazelnut, a little acid from the coffee, toast and roast, hearty and distinct. very true to its name, if i lived where this was available, i would absolutely have it in my fridge all winter. great as a morning beer, a hangover beer, or as a nightcap. top quality!

12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours pitch black in color with a small foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a ring around the edge of the glass

S- smells of burnt coffee grounds, burnt toast, maybe some chocolate, but burnt coffee for the most part

T- pure coffee up front, with those strange burnt notes following the aroma, it's not really smoky. Traces of chocolate and roasted malt undertones, but the coffee dominates throughout, finishing with a linger of more burnt coffee

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy finish

O- the coffee came off burnt rather than smoky and really dominated everything else

Like this one. Poured with a big head, and you could get a whiff of the coffee. Taste was very good - the coffee is dominant but there are traces of other sweet flavors there too. The feel is light to medium, but the after-taste is great. Overall a very satisfying beer.

This is a good one! Very dark in color, with a thick tan head. Strong mocha and coffee aroma's, and up front taste. Mouthfeel is thick, but pleasant - not slick or lingering. Aftertaste is not overwhelming. Overall I would recommend this one if you enjoy a good stout, or a good coffee. Pairs well with a multitude of winter time snacks.
