Appearance: A gusher, but not infected; pours fudge brown with a thin tan head that fades to a ringlet; splotchy lacing

Smell: Dark fruit, raisins, caramel, fudge and a variety of barrel aromatics, with brandy, sherry and rum prominent

Taste: Fudge and dark fruit forward, with a distinctive raisin element; through the middle, the caramel barrel tones emerge, with a slightly boozy blend of brandy, run and a hint of sherry

Mouthfeel: Full body with moderate carbonation; warmth in the gullet

Overall: A really interesting beer, more like an old ale than a stout; not sure all five barrels can be detected but I enjoyed the experience

Thanks, jmueller216, for the opportunity

Received from @THSdrummer for NBS BIF #5.
Bottle dated 12/23/16 at 42 degrees. Allowed to warm to 57 – 61 degrees. Served in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – initially cherry, by the end light bourbon.
Head – small (Maximum < two cm, semi-aggressive pour), light brown, fizzy, gone within two minutes leaving only a thin one mm partial ring.
Lacing – none.
Body – black, opaque.
Flavor – The cocoa becomes evident as it warms in my mouth, then brandy and raisins, followed by whisky and alcohol heat. Complex and interesting. My tongue’s getting numb. Ends almost cloyingly sweet.
Palate – full, creamy, soft carbonation.

Definitely an interesting brew. Maybe a little too sweet for the style or my taste, but well worth picking up if you can find it. Probably best shared on a cold winter day after shoveling a ton of snow.

Appearance 3.75, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4.5, Palate 4.5, Overall 4.25.

MILF pours a thick, chocolatey dark-brown color that approaches black. Has a finger of somewhat-soupy tan head that hangs around for a good while and leaves decent lacing.

Big, complex aroma of raisins, bourbon, red wine, sherry, vanilla and chocolate. Can't say I can pick out every individual barrel here, but you really can notice a bunch of them.

The taste is a little less pronounced, with the barrels really blending together here. The raisins do stick out, though, and there's a slight nuttiness to the chocolate. Mild warming alcohol on the backend -- not too hot, just about perfect. Red wine character does linger in the aftertaste.

Smooth tasting, a little on the thin side, with nice carbonation coming through to aerate each sip.

With just over two years on this bottle (it's got a 2/24/15 bottle stamp), this is tasting delicious.

MILF has a very thin, tan head, an extremely dark brown appearance, with tiny bubbles streams, visible at the top sides of the snifter glass, with lighter brown at the top and bottom, as the sun shines through it. Aroma is of sharp, bourbon barrel, cocoa, and dark bread. Taste is of rich, chocolate, brown bread, raisin, and chocolate mousse. Mouthfeel is high medium, and MILF finishes medium dry.

Many thanks to russpowell for this bottle.

A - Dark and pitch black opaque pour with a thin dark toffee colored lacing ring, carbonation is at a minimal. Very, very viscous and sticky on the sides of the glass.

S - Sweet dark roasted chocolate, cream, cherries, a little bit of peet and smoke, delicate vanilla, some booziness from the alcohol but overall it's well hidden for a beer of this ABV level. As the beer opened up the smokiness subsided.

T - Layers of flavor. Cherries, oak, bourbon, dark roasted milk chocolate, and red grapes. Most impressive - everything is very well blended across the board with not one thing/nuance overpowering the other.

M - Alcohol warming on the way down. Rich, big and full bodied, velvety (almost borderline syrupy), very dry on the finish.

O - Layers of complex goodness. Recommended!

Black, with essentially no head. Nose is cola, vanilla and blueberries. With warmth, wood and red wine become dominant. Flavor starts with wood and wine, with bourbon undertones. Dark fruits, as well. Sweet throughout. I think I get a tiny bit of diacetyl now and again, but it's not off-putting. Just enough coffee at the end to keep it from cloying. Very nice, lingering alcohol burn.

I look forward to the MILF release every year. Coming in at 11%, it's completely drinkable (or sippable) and velvety smooth. Flavor profile is an explosion in your mouth....chocolate, sweet molasses, dried fruit and vanilla with notes of oak and rum on the back end. Definitely worth waiting for.

A-black in color with a thin layer of dark tan head that leaves a bit of lacing on top

S-chocolate, warming alcohol notes, some vanilla and dark fruits

T-taste is much richer than the smell, still getting some whiskey and bourbon taste with chocolate, raisins, and vanilla

M-medium to full body, very smooth, light carbonation

Overall a little light on the carbonation but still very good, alcohol is completely hidden
