Got this one at the De Molen beer shop in Bodegraven.

From a bottle into a snifter
Best before 30 May 2014
IBU: 24

APPEARANCE: Clear, light brown pour yields a huge, 3+ finger, loose, Swiss cheese, fizzy and foamy light tan head with lousy retention. Bistre brown body with higher levels of carbonation. Head fades quickly to a loose, foamy cap with piles of carbonation all over the place. A ring remains but leaves no lacing down the glass. Way too transparent and foamy.

SMELL: Lactose, sweet cream and caramel are there. Milk chocolate for sure with some roasted notes as well. Mostly lactose and chocolate. Medium strength.

TASTE: Not nearly as approachable as the nose. Much too carbonated too. Light burnt notes with lactose milk sugar up front. Not much though, as it begins rather empty. Medium strength and dry finish of roasted grain, stale coffee bitterness, light lactose and sweet cream with a touch of milk chocolate. Pretty mild in flavor with stale coffee as well. Meh.

PALATE: Lighter body and piles, and I mean piles of carbonation. Airy and bubbly going down, finishing very dry on the palate. Way too light and bubbly for the style.

OVERALL: Pretty bad. The mild flavors and stale coffee are at least tolerable, but the absurd amount of carbonation ruin both the look and feel, the latter of which makes this one a complete chore to drink. Drain enjoyed most of this one. Pass.

12 oz bottle poured into TeKu

A- Jet black with tall-tall head that fades to almost nothing. Took forever to pour due to the amount of carbination
S- Just hints of coco and coffee... not very areomatic
T- A bit metalic and off-putting. Maybe a bit of coco and stale coffee
M- Too thin and carbinated for the style... paired with the taste, it is hard to drink

O- dissappointed. About half of this is headed for the drain.

Pours a quite pale imitation of dark brown. Clear body with cream head, just a thin rim with no lacing. Looks portery, first of all, also thin, watery and pale. Not impressed.

Nutty/malty nose, some mild touches of roast on there. Quite sweet and chocolatey around the middle. Not too bad, but simple, and again more on the portery than the stouty side.

Taste is mildly roasty throughout, but a touch on the sour side with that under-roasted coffee kind of character. Touch of spice, with peppery hints on the back. A bit weak, and really not sweet enough for the style.

Thin body, little bit dry at the back. Fairly meh.

Drinkable, but not chocolatey enough, and very much more portery characteristics than stout. Needs more oomph and more sweetness.

Dark brown/black with a small bubbly tan head that pops away immediately, leaving just a thin string.
Deeply roasted malt and coffee on the nose, some cocoa powder, caramel, but not too sweet.
Roasted malt, some nut, cocoa powder, bit of lactose, not too rich. Burnt bread and some acidic coffee in the finish. A hint of dark fruit too, some zestiness.
Kinda watery, kinda over-carbonated. Aftertaste is a continuation of the finish, as simple as that.
Not too good, unfortunately. The weakest Brewfist i've tried.

For this price, pass. I'm sure this is a big hit in Europe where they've been drinking the same style beers for 500 years - with the exception of the Scandinavians, they get good beer.

For a palette accustomed to champagne or sparkling wine, I can see how maybe this could appeal to some. But introduce this in the US as a milk chocolate stout...come on. It's like a slightly chocolaty Bass. And for the price.....tragedy.

Pours an excessive head which takes several minutes to dissipate. Minimal lacing however. Rich flavor which is highly sweet, bordering on molasses and maple syrup with a slight roasted character. Unbalanced. Medium to full body. Soda like carbonation. Not my favorite.

On-tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney as part of their Italian Spectapular festival.

Pours a clear, deep brown colour that looks very light and a touch insipid. Beige head that forms a bubbly ring like someone spat in my glass and swirled it a little bit. No lace. Looks very average.

Mild roast on the nose, with a dull character of drip coffee. Some light cocoa sweetness, but nothing really approaching "chocolate". It's pretty dull, but not too bad.

Light cocoa on the front, roastiness on the back. That's about it, to be honest; otherwise it feels pretty flat, thin, weak and dull. There's more of that brewed coffee character, but it has nothing to latch on to. Feel is woefully thin and weak.

Overall? So bland. So thin. It has some promising characters, but it just ends up so boring. Inoffensive faff.
