Bottle. Tan bead that fades. Thick black color.
Awesome coffee all around. No burnt or roasted flavors. The vanilla shows a ton in the nose. Has a fudge cake flavor. Whiskey, wet oak. Dark dried fruits in the background. Warming, smooth, and barrel flavors in the finish. Full bodied.
Absolutely, love the coffee on this. Glad I didn’t get a green pepper bottle!

Appearance: Pours dense and black with a thin mocha cap that fades quickly; leggy with some dots dripping down
Smell: Dark chocolate and fruity espresso tones dominant; just a hint of vanilla
Taste: Strong espresso tones forward with the sweetened dark chocolate accompanying; the vanilla is recessive but makes an appearance toward the end where the oak also plays a role
Mouthfeel: Thick and full bodied with low carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: The biggest and most boozy of the four Missouri oak stouts I tried recently; not for the timid

375 mL bottle. Inky black. Smells of coffee, green pepper, vanilla. Tastes of strong coffee with a strong bitterness. A little green pepper, but not like the nose. Vanilla, roasted malt. Bitter roasted malt. Strong oak. Heavy, boozy. The group was not a fan, but I liked it.

Tar black body, opaque; relatively thick, brown head on initial pour, fades to a thin yet persistent wispy layer. Heavy dark chocolate and cocoa aroma; fairly bod coffee scent. Intense dark chocolate, vanilla, and coffee flavor; almost bourbon-like; low-key bitterness offsetting the rich sweetness. Heavy, sludgy body; dense residual sugar presence; heavy sweetness and dryness combination.
When I think of an imperial stout, especially one fortified with coffee and vanilla, this example is what I'm looking for. The density and depth of appearance, smell, taste, and feel are phenomenal.
Poured at a relatively chilly 50° F.

Doomed is a big purchase for 2021. Anchorage rocked the beer world with Blessed and I had to give them another shot. Doomed is the little brother to Blessed with vanilla syrup, chocolate fudge, and espresso bringing the flavor. The difference here is the tangy yeast and pure oak barrel adding to the party but not obstructing. Anchorage did not miss a step and created another high end stout.

Oily black pour with ashy surface webbing and brown collar. Bourbon barrel aged dark chocolate and coffee truffle nose, with lingering caramel, fudge and vanillins. Taste is almost tiramisu like: vanilla, chocolate, coffee, all intermingled with soft bright oak, espresso, and fudge compliments. Feel is heavy, thick, syrupy, smooth and has more oak feel than taste. Wonderful ba coffee stout

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich, spicy, and very roasty dark coffee, oak, bittersweet vanilla, and caramel.
This has an absolutely commanding coffee presence to it, and a much stronger oak character than most of the "Missouri Oak Fermented" stouts they've done recently. The coffee is spicy, bitter, roasty, chocolatey, and with just a hint of caramel. There's not a ton of vanilla here, as the coffee tends to bury it.
This is medium bodied, slightly syrupy as it warms, but with a nice bitter balance that a lot of their pastry stouts have lately.
You have to really like coffee to enjoy this one. I do, so it was good, but it was really intense.

Pours out pitch black without any head formation. I didn't expect anything else.
Nose is coffee beans. Fresh coffee beans. Like you're in an artisanal coffee shop with a newly brewed cup sitting in front of you on a calm Sunday morning. The presence of the coffee is much stronger than that of Tired But Wired. Less sweet, more roasty and aromatic. It dominates and it smells fantastic. Underneath that however you get notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, very mild flashes of dark fruit and baking spices, and something close to caramel. Granted these are all subtle and are completely overshadowed by the obelisk of coffee.
Taste is similar. An explosion of roasty coffee goodness. It's so strong its almost spicy and vegetal. The inevitable sweetness comes in as well, but the coffee does a good job of counteracting with some bittering. It doesn't win the war but it puts up a fight and does well to balance out this brew. Something the other Anchorage stouts weren't able to do. The vanilla and chocolate play a role to accent the flavor but the coffee is the star of the show.
Mouthfeel is the same as the others. Full-bodied, thick, dense, syrupy, and decadent. It sticks with you allowing the flavors to just last forever.
Overall this brew is the most linear of this new Anchorage stout line, but that doesn't detract from the quality at all. It will captivate the hard core coffee fans and it this shows just how well it can be incorporated into stouts.
