A: poured into a Duvel tulip to a light golden yellow topped by a dense and pillowy three finger white head which retains very well while leaving some nice lacing.
S: Smells of peppery spice with a hint of lemon zest along with a nice dose of funk. There's some orchard fruits and honey sweetness tucked in the back as well.
T: Taste is peppery and lemony up front with some orchard fruits, and funk. Slight hint of tartness and mustyness as well. On the finish there's a nice bit of funk from the brett with some more lemon, orchard fruits, and peppery spice with a slight touch of honey.
M: This beer is fairly light in body but it is not watery. Carbonation is lively and effervescent which was evident by this bottle shooting the cork into the ceiling after removing the cage. Fortunately not a gusher. The finish on this one is definitely drying which is expected.
O: Overall this is a really great example of the style that's also been dosed with brett. A lot of classic saison flavors with a really nice amount of complexity really makes this one interesting to drink. Despite over seven years in the bottle it doesn't taste like it has fallen off at all.

Light cloudy gold...lingering head. Aroma horse blanket, fruit rind, bread. Tasty brew with some bitterness in the mouthfeel, rich and tasty but I'd probably not want more than 10 oz per day! Interesting but funky and not necessarily easily drinkable.

A: Light straw with an orange medium glow. PLENTY of head that lingers thick, on and on like frog vomit the whole length of the glass.

S: Lemongrass, grass, a little wheat, grassy english hops.

T: Hit with a quick jab of sweetness, then another jab of grass, then hops/carbonation tides in strong and punctuates on the end. No real brett flavors at this point.

M: Taken to a lot of places on this, but remains kind to the palate, as virtually every saison does. Carbonation is maybe a cut above average for the style, and hop presence isn't really more assertive than average, but maintains for longer.

O: Too young/not funky enough for my tastes. At $6.99 from Gold Rush in Anchorage though, I may have to grab another to lay down.

Picked up a bottle in Anchorage, enjoyed on 5.11.12.

A - Pours a dark, cloudy yellow with a huge white foamy head. Great retention.

S - Lots of funk and Belgian yeast, so very peppery and lemony for me.

T - Slight funk and subtle lemon citrus.

D - Good carbonation and a light body.

O - Light, slight funk. I have loved everything from Anchorage Brewing, but this is my least favorite. Still good, just not exceptional like the rest.

My buddy from Alaska was cool enough to send this in a care package. Yeah!

I was worried the corked/caged bottle may lose some carb in the air, but it made it just fine. Great slightly hazed pumpkin orange color sporting a massive rocky white head that was a bit hard to contain even with a gentle pour. Lace left behind was course and plenty.

The smells are classic farm - you get da funk and nothin' but da funk! I don't really dig the smell, but it's textbook so you gotta give it to 'em. It smells like someone vomitted in a gym hamper...but in a good way. There. The friend I shared it with was scared.

Flavors are really nice - orange/lime/grape/apple, damn what's not in there! There's a nice honey bisquit about it and the Brett adds the mystery twist. Very little in the way of hops, but it's there in grassy form.

Moderate body and nice tongue messaging effervescence.

If you can score it, latch on to it. A brew this good deserves a prettier label though.

750ml bottle. Batch #1 Jan/2012. 32 IBUs. From the bottle: Brewed to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the running of the reindeer. Bottled with brett. Brewed with East Kent Golding Hops and peppercorns. Fermented with farmhouse yeast, dry hopped with East Kent Golding. Bottle conditioned with brett. Drink fresh or age to bring out the funk.

Poured a hazy gold with ample fluffy white head of 3-4 fingers. Really sticks to the glass--great lacing and head retention.

Smell is brett funk, lemon peel, pepper, grassy hops.

Taste is very refreshing. Lemony citrus finish. Spicy pepper quality with brett funk producing a slightly sour taste. Good hop balance adds some bitterness.

Mouthfeel is crisp and very active. Well carbonated.

Overall, an excellent saison. Extremely fresh!
