Pours an effervescent apricot/honey color with 1+ finger of ivory colored head. Good head retention & lacing, clouds up a touch half way through the bottle

S: Sourness & green appleskins, a touch of funk. Funk really asserts itself as this warms

T: Funk, white grapes, white pepper, s touch of Bourbon up front. Sour Mash flavors as this warms, grassyness & pineapple, plus just s whisper of grapefruit & white grape, Fuji apple

MF: Medium bodied, crisp carbonation

Super drinakabilty & maybe THE best beer I've had from Oklahoma ( Cuvee 2 was damn good too ). This brewery ( Chase ) has really nailed the Belgian genere. May not be sour enough for sour fiends but this worked perfectly for me. The bareel aging really did it for me...

Big thanks to ThirstyHerf!

Pours a bright sunny hazy color, white head of a couple fingers. Aroma is fairly whiskey dominant initially. There's some bright citrus notes in there too with a tinge of funky notes. Citrus notes on the taste with a bit of woody whiskey. The barrel has added some creaminess and taken away some of that light effervescence, but a pleasant feel.

Very interesting. I can't say that I like this more than the base Cuvee 3, but it's still a great brew that I'm glad I had the chance to try!

Brought this to willcarrera's w/Agold. According to RB it's been aged in whiskey barrels with a Drie Fontenein yeast strain (?). Poured from a 750ml into a brandy snifter.

A: Pours a murky light gold with a decent white head.

S: Pineapple, coconut, light oaky liquor, sweet citrus.

T: Whiskey and oak, a bit of funk, tangerine, pithy rind, bright grain.

M: Nicely carbonated.

O: This was pretty interesting, but not a homerun. Not funky enough, with the whiskey a bit too present.

The pour is a cloudy yellow color with a tall white head. A very, very tropical aroma. Nicely bretty with tons of straw and pineapple. Light grass notes, a bit of bread sweetness, and a hint of citric tartness. The flavor is full of fresh pineapple flavor and also has a very good lemon zest note. A light sweetness of bread and tropical fruit. Mild grass, a touch of earth and yeast, and white pepper.

Poured a hazy yellow. Billowy white head with spotty lacing. I LOVE the color of this beer!

I can get some pepper, a little grass/wheat, and of course some mustiness. 'Fresher' smelling than a lot of funky saisons, I like it.

Taste follows the nose....a little peppery, a little grassy, and a little bit of funk. Very delicious beer.

Medium body with good carbonation...definately not too much could even use a tiny bit more, but that really is nit picking at this point as it is excellent as it is.

Definately an awesome beer. I've recently been on a Hill Farmstead kick, and this is up there with them. I'd love to get some more. If you are rading this and have some...let's talk!

P:  A hazy glistening golden apricot body with streaming bubbles.  A creamy crown of off white head that settles to a thick froth.

S:  Funky dill pickle, honey, apricots, and moldy wood similar to what you smell while consignment shopping.   Tropicals fruit aroma of mango, papaya, and pineapple.

T/M:  A creamy and effervescent explosion of acidic tropical fruits, sweet malts all mixed with a funky vinegar sting.  A pungent alcohol flavor surrounds the palate followed by a spicy lemon zest  White grape wine flavors and oak dust. The finish is dry with dehydrated fruit, moldy wood and bitter dandelions.  The yeast gets more funky the warmer it gets.

O:  I have to say this is a real treat. The oak and fruit mingle well together to deliver a pungent and refreshing beverage for anytime of the year.  I had this about 5 months ago with Stavehooks and I can honestly say that it is better than the first time. This is the first Cuvee I have drank from Red Bud Brewing Co. but it wouldn't be the last.  This is probably my favorite saison that I have tasted thus far.

The newest and most limited beer of Redbud' Cuvée line of beers, Cuvée Four lives up the the name. Based on Cuvée Three without the dry-hopping, Cuvée Four takes it one step higher with a whiskey barrel aging and some added yeasts.

Limited to a 900 barrel run, this is a tough beer to find. I am lucky enough to have a few for my own personal collection. Sticking with his new black and white bottle scheme, Chase is keeping it simple on the outside, while creating masterpieces on the inside. Sampled out of the standard Redbud 750 then poured into my 22oz snifter.

The pour is a wonderful slightly cloudy peach champagne colored. A good 2 finger head with good retention, dissipates to a nice thin strip with minimal lacing. WOW, this beer smells terrific! Peaches, pineapple, guava and nectarines(Estery?). effervescence is slight, this brew opens up as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium body and covers the tongue nicely. Taste is sharp and distinctive. More guava and pineapple up front. Through the middle is smoothness and fruit, finish is slightly dry and some hops are noticeable. Such a great brew. VERY different from Cuvee Three in mostly all aspects except for perhaps the finish. Once again guys, Chase and crew at Redbud have knocked this one out of the park. This is a fabulous example how with a few simple tweaks you can change a beer and make it something just as amazing on its own. If you are lucky enough to find one of these brews around, grab it and drink it now, or lay it back. This is a beer that is only going to get better with time. Congrats to the Redbud family on another home-run! CHEERS!!

Served at 55 degrees
Unibroue Tulip
A ~ Starts with a creeping eruption of white. The color is a cloudy wheat-yellow with a solid ring of ultrafine head with good lacing as well.

S ~ Slight Wood. Whiffs of dried grass, lemon with salt, and lychee dominate with hints of yellow apple & melon. Cranberries. There are herbs peppered about as well.

T ~ Lychee & a mellow apple note follow through in a major way with wheat bread & grass following close behind. Medicinal, herby notes. Notes whiskey are very raw, and you can taste it very clearly. . .I feel like it is lending an almost vegetal note of Corn or Leafy spinach.

M ~ The mouthfeel on this one is full of interesting esters, but I do not think it compares with the extra dry finish of the Cuvee 3. The heat is more prevalent as well.

D ~ I enjoyed this beer as a whole, but there were also little things that I didn't enjoy. All in all this beer is definitely worth a try and has some very strong flavors.

Bottle shared by Jason. Thanks!

A: Slightly hazy yellow with a finger of white foam.

S: Apple and pear with wet leather and earth. Floral character with a faint spiciness. Light whiskey notes.

T: Wheat and grain with a faint spiciness. Leathery and earthy with pervasive orchard fruit character that brings to mind apple. Whiskey is restrained.

M: Medium body with lofty carbonation.

Overall: A nice Saison with some earth and funk. The whiskey barrel is an interesting touch.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy apricot nectar color with a massive head (the beer was a bit of a gusher) that leaves quite a few clumps of lacing

Smell: Melon, kumquat, grass, leather and whiskey notes

Taste: Unusual fruit flavors, up front, bringing the understated sweetness of honeydew melon and the tartness of kumquat; a bit of sugar cake builds underneath, but the mid-palate moves in a grassy, earthy direction culminating with the appearance of leather and the whiskey notes that build into the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: It would be interesting to have tasted a fresh bottle of this just to see how it matured; as it is, there are flavors coming from a variety of directions and the confluence doesn't taste all that great; interesting but not what I love in a Saison

Thanks, BlueOkie, for the opportunity
