Introducing our year-round Almanac IPA, a West Coast hop bomb overflowing with hop flavors and aromas. We start with a copper-hued malt base of California-grown two-row barley, with small additions of German Vienna Malt, Crystal Malts and Biscuit Malt.
Then we start layering on the hops—grown all along the west coast in California, Oregon and Washington. We combine Apollo, El Dorado, Simcoe and Mosaic Hops to create our own unique twist on the IPA style with intense aromas of grapefruit and tangerine peel, melon, pineapple and pine trees. The finish has a clean bitterness and light saltine cracker note.

This was poured into an English pint glass. The appearance was a glossy to hazy almost burnt orange/yellow color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head. Light semi-foamy lacing. The smell starts off with a nice sweet maltiness up front with a sweet citrus and a nice light sweet to semi-bitter piney-ness in the background. The taste replicates the smell nicely. Moving sweet over my tastebuds, delicate in the aftertaste and gives off a decent dry feel in the finish. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable smooth feel about it. Carbonation felt nice. Overall, for an AIPA that is "west coast styled," I say it works. I’d have again.

Pours a hazy golden and orange color. A thumbnail length frothy head caps things off. Nice retention and good lacing.
The aroma is sweet and juicy. The first thing I detect is honey. Then, lots of fruit. It basically feels like the whole fruit spectrum. It is citrusy-orange, grapefruit and pineapple. Lots of tropical fruit flavor-mango, papaya and even a hint of banana.
The first thing I notice, when it hits the tongue, is the honey malt and graham cracker sweetness. It drinks pretty smoothly and easily. Medium bodied and softly carbonated, and very juicy. The fruity flavors align mostly with the aroma. The hops are there, however, they seem to take a backseat to the fruit and honey.
Overall, this is a nice IPA even though the sweetness can be a bit cloying and the balance is a bit off. Perhaps the hops presence needs to be bolder. I wouldn't mind having it again, although there are certainly better IPAs out there.

Appearance: Pours with a one finger head squatting on the hazy golden/amber liquid; excellent retention and lacing action
Smell: Shortbread malt and tropical fruit tones of mango and pineapple; slightly dank
Taste: Shortbread, up front, with the mango and pineapple emerging; some grapefruit and piney tones, in the middle; moderate bitterness, after the swallow, with residual sweetness that lingers
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: I was unsure what to expect from this beer, not thinking of Alamanac as an IPA brewer; while this won't blow the hopheads away, it was very enjoyable with nice fruit tones and modest bitterness

This makes a 4 for me because of its complex, aromatic, floral hop style. My first from brewer. Not your typical IPA.
A - It pours a hazed juice like, almost pulpy, golden body, with a massive chill haze. About 3 fingers of frothy white headm with ample lace.
S - Ample herbal, dank hops, grass, yerba buena, & caramel. Flower shop. Head shop. Incense.
T - Taste follows the nose: but more bready & as well as herbal. Honey caramel malts with honey, hay, grass, salt-sun-baked coastal hills, & pine sap. Surprisingly delicious.
M - Feel is smooth, juicy, & drinkable. Medium, a tad thin and a tad aspiriny chalky at the finale.
An above average IPA in a can, Try 6.

S: A wet grass hop nose at first then some citrus comes out.
F: Clean and bitter slight oil feel nice carbonation medium body to it.
