Pours black as hell with little off white sticky head. Which settles to the outer ring and actually lasts thru out leaving a thin oily lace. Smells of malt, slight pepper and chocolate. Taste is remarkably good. Up front cocoa and coffee. Followed by hints of vanilla and mixed in coffee bitterness, balanced out by a creamy sweetness. Along with a chili pepper bite after taste that lingers, nothing too strong but lets you know its there. All together a very well balanced stout.

22 oz bottle, 111615 on neck - bottled November 16, 2015?

black, with head that fades quick. aroma is mostly chocolate, but not as bold as expected. taste does have the hit of chilli in there, a nice balance to the roast and chocolate. medium bodied. okay for a chilli chocoalte stout, but not as good as some I've had.

Bottle. Pours very dark. Blackish! Thin veil of tan head. These Mexican style stouts are all the rage. Why do I keep buying them? They rarely work for me. I can smell the pepper as well as the chocolate. I don't think the oak stave shortcut really helped the nose. It also smells roasty. Chocolate, cocoa, roast, and light chili pepper. Not too much pepper and almost zero oak. Body isn't very heavy. Alcohol is well hidden. Happy with the amount of pepper here. The really hot-spicy beers I hate. This one is pleasant. They should have thrown some cinnamon into this piece. Better than many hot stouts I have had.

L- pours a jet black with a one finger off white head that dissipates quickly. A decent amount of carbonation for an imperial stout. Impenetrable to light.
S- cocoa nibs chocolate and vanilla bean. Just a little hint of some pepper.
T- Th coco nibs and pepper show up first in which th pepper stays on the back of the hop to linger. Vanilla bean is subtle. As it warms, the pepper and banilla becomes moe pronounced in back of tounge.
F- Mouthfeel is medium, but the complexity makes warming.
O- I very much enjoyed this. Good complexitt.

On draft - served in a pint glass. Aromas of cocoa and vanilla, just a slight hint of the chile peppers. Taste is very much like the aroma- cocoa/vanilla with the chiles coming in almost as an afterthought. Mouthfeel is rich, creamy, decadent. Overall - pure enjoyment - a perfect marriage amongst the flavors - one of the best non-BA stouts I've had.

This beer pours a very dark brown color with a two finger light mocha head. There is good retention and some spotted lacing. Smell is sweet chocolate, coffee and a very light hint of pepper. Taste is the same, but even less on the pepper. Feel is kind of light for a 10% stout, but still medium bodied. Viscous too. Overall good but not great. I can name a handful of stouts brewed with peppers that are much better than this, and unfortunately I've only had a handful of stouts brewed with peppers.

22oz bottle, no date. Pours dark brown with a medium sized khaki head which recedes quickly. Smells of roasted malt, chili peppers, oak, and some cocoa. The taste follows exactly with a little more chili pepper; fairly complex. Noticeable sea salt in the finish with some heat, sweetness, and bitterness. Below average body and above average carbonation. This would be a great IS for people who love sweet and salty snacks. Also has some surprising but not overbearing spice and is accurately labeled.

Draft at BitterCreek. Dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is mix of chocolate and roast malts. Taste follows with more of the same, nice texture, but finishes fast.
