Clear bright yellow brew with long-lasting foam in the Zunft Kölsch glass. Pleasant honey aroma. Warm malt but not too sweet. More grainy than a typical Kölsch, perhaps, but it has the zing and crispness. I would have to say it doesn't have the perfumey hop aroma of the German style either.

Still, it's a lovely light brew with a warm malty taste. Moderate bitter aftertaste. Overall it's a more robust sort of light beer with a substantial hoppy presence. From the 16 oz can purchased in southern Calif.

Poured into a stange, the appearance was a crisp golden yellow color with a clean transparency indicating some carbonation bubbles to be seen rising. A one finger white foamy head softly dissolved to leave some messy lace.
The aroma had some earthy/grassy to floral hops playing with some clean biscuity malts and semi-sweet German yeast.
The flavor yielded to the sweet side of all of the prior mentioned aromas with a crisp bitter herbal quality coming through modestly. Slight aftertaste of herbal to floral and bready character.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fine sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good for the style. Clean brisk malty and semi-grassy crisp finish.
Overall, I was skeptical to see if Almanac could brew this style but I am not now. This was quite enjoyable to me!

Had this on 2019-08-04 in Downey, CA from a 16oz canned on 2019-05-06

A - Straw-gold with a 1.5 finger white head and good lace.

S - Freah white bread and noble hops.

T - Bready, grassy/herbal, appropriately mildly bitter. Very traditional.

M - Light-medium body and carbonation. Crisp. Thirst quenching.

O - These folks know how to do a traditional Kolsch right.

Pours a pale caramel/gold, nice active carbonation, robust fluffy pure white head.
Smell is very light. crackery and faintly herbal.
Taste is super light and clean with a rustic bread base with a lightly floral and pleasantly herbal hop character over the top. This is not a big complex beer, this is a clean easy drinker that could appeal to an avid AAL drinker as well as any craft fan.
Mouthfeel is very crisp with a light carbonation bite along with a nice silky body.
Overall this is an excellent beer. For everyone complaining about the loss of beer flavored beers, seek this one out. So nice and crisp, super easy drinking but not flavorless by any stretch. This is a wonderful brew for the summer.
