A- Tallboy to tulip pour. The beer is pitch black in the body and the cap has a dark cocoa brown color to it. A thick and puffy head blasts up to about two inches tall with great retention. Lacing coats most of the glass.

S- For me it is very chocolately with dark chocolate and cocoa powder especially apparent. The coffee comes next and then the roasted barley. Caramel, toasted nuts and subtle vanilla.

T- Dark chocolate and toasted nuts up front with a medium roast coffee and some fudge after that. Really not all that sweet for a modern stout as the bitter roast barley cuts into the medium sweetness nicely balancing the brew overall. Caramel, vanilla, cocoa powder and toast. Picking up a slight touch of earthy hops in the back end.

MF- Medium to heavy body with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy almost to the point of chewiness and pretty soft and smooth. Ends very slightly warm with a nice roasty bitterness.

Chocolatey stout that is just bleeds balance between the malts, coffee, vanilla and sweetness.

Was kind of underwhelmed by this coffee Stout definitely more roast forward than actual coffee bitterness. Could have definitely used a bit more baker's chocolate to balance. Was pretty creamy and went down smooth with the 9% ABV. not disappointed just not worth the admission of almost six bucks for a can

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark brown, almost black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of creamy, tan-colored, somewhat long-lasting head. Not much lacing to speak of.

S: A very good aroma of coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, spices, and chocolate.

T: Tasted of a bit of vanilla (a subtle presence), light chocolate notes (nice, but could've used more), a good shot of coffee (less than expected, but definitely present), a lot of roasted malt (present throughout), and light spices (cinnamon, in particular). This is a subtle, warm, well-constructed flavor. Tasty stuff.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a very smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A very solid coffee stout. Worth a look.

Appearance - The beer poured a brownish black color with a dark tan head.

Smell - The nose had a light roasty coffee, heavy roasted malt presence.

Taste - The profile is more chocolate fudge than coffee. Coffee hints come more toward the back without the promised vanilla. A part of the problem is the carbonation which makes it difficult for sweetness to last. Dark malts dominate the finish.

Mouthfeel - Stouts should not be so heavily carbonated. “Smooth” would not describe this stout.

Overall - The balance of this beer is way-off. Did I get the bottom of the brewtank?

From the tall boy can in a snifter. This excellent imperial pours
a nice obsidian with a fantastic had of dark tan foam that settles
to a thick ring and clumping layer with astounding lacing. Nose of
coffee, vanilla, char, dark bakers chocolate, and cream notes. Flavors
surpass the nose with aplomb; dark cocoa and espresso dance about layers of
char and brulee with a mild vanilla bean note amongst mild cream /
cappuccino notes with a hint of herbal hops. Very nice mouth feel;
full body, smooth, coating, medium light carbonation that supplies some
very nice lift, and a semi dry finish.

Overall---excellence from a new to me brewery!

Cheers
