Good quality beer offered at a corner house brewery with a very large outdoor seating section. They have multiple sections for outdoor seating including a stage for bands, no indoor seating at this time. 2pm on a Sunday and it was comfortably full. Great atmosphere.

Being set up in an old house, it certainly has a certain charm that I think many folks will enjoy (It's a little too hipster'ish for my tastes, but it never stops me from going in!) They do make great beer, and since they usually keep a balanced tap list, there's always something available for me to enjoy.

Awesome brewery to visit in the summer. Marquette is a great town for outdoor activities...nothing better than finishing it off with a craft brew from Black Rocks. Get Barbaric Yawp if they have it on tap

The first thing I noticed approaching the building that this is just a house converted into a brewery and taproom. Step inside and my god does it smell. Sweat, cyclist tears, brewery chemicals, and malt. It is crowded and noisy but service is attentive. They have windows so why not open them up and get some air circulation? Selection is varied. Had a coconut brown that was all coconut, some of the other offerings were much better. The upstairs was decorated with uncomfortable recycled bicycle parts made into chairs and stools, but at least a person could breath. And to think they host musical acts in this space, not me that is for sure. Order a beer and step outside despite the weather. That would be my advice. No food but why would you want to eat in this space?

I drove right by this place twice, it is definitely a house on the corner of basically a residential area. but, yep, you guessed it..I found it and they serve great beer! Went to the u.p. last week for a hunting trip and visited this place with a beer buddy who is local now. I was so pleasantly surprised I even bought beer to go (Barbaric Yawp) and had a fresh 51k while there and the show stealer of the night was their cookies and cream stout on nitro. A very nice beer. thanks to Blackrocks for a great experience. the bartender was nice and the place was cool. I bet we could have sat outside on the deck all night there if it were summer. worth visiting and i recommend this place for sure. little on the small side inside was my only draw back. cheers to a great place guys!

My wife and I stopped here as part of a pub crawl in northern Michigan and the UP to visit the newer brewpubs (plus several others) that have opened since our last trip ‘up north’. This brewery recently opened, and is located in a converted dwelling along a main street among other retail businesses near the university area. The brewing equipment is visible in a small room behind the bar. The pub has no food, but they are food friendly.

Our visit was at 4 pm when they opened for the day, and they were not busy yet so we sat at the bar and ordered a sampler flight of 4 of the 8 beers ($5.50) that they had on tap that day. We would have liked to try others but were on a schedule to be elsewhere for dinner, so this was a brief visit.

For being a new brewery the have their beers dialed in very well to the respective style. We rated one beer as a C grade, but the other three were a B- and two Bs. The brewery has started canning, and also has some of their beers in 22 oz. bombers, but none were available at the brewery. The owner chatted with us for a while, and during the conversation he told us that we could walk up the street to the c-store on the corner where we could get some of their beer in cans, which we did.

This is a small brewery in a small building, but as good as they are, I’m guessing that they will have to expand to meet the growing popularity of the pub and demand for their beers. We’ll go back again when we’re in town.

Blackrocks is in a cool, well kept old house in Marquette with front and side yard seating. Stepping in the front door is a small ordering area around the corner from the bar seating that only holds about 7. Long pew-like seating runs the length of wall opposite the bar along with tables and chairs. The mug club ceramic mugs hang from the entire ceiling. Seating is extremely limited, I'd say there's seating for around 25-30 in the whole place, outdoors seat more of course. Service was fast and friendly. The bartender caught me wearing a shirt from home and mentioned he'd been there before starting a conversation. Good people work at Blackrocks.

There were 8-10 beers on tap. Each and everyone was unique and interesting, some had better outcomes than others. Session IPA was really enjoyable, Coconut Brown was pretty intense, a pale that was on was also very good. Beer was reasonable. This place is worth a stop all around without a doubt but the hours are short (4-10) and the place gets packed. Standing room, shoulder to shoulder packed. Make sure you go as early as possible.

I do have one complaint and it can't be helped from the breweries stand point but this place is a townie bar to the extreme, which is fine, but my friend and I had to guard our seats the whole time we were at Blackrocks. They were getting eyed like vultures and the one time we both did get up at the same time an older women was signalling her friends to hurry up and take our seats. They did even though we were grabbing beers 8ft away and our stuff was still on the table. Pretty childish overall and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth but again, I can't blame Blackrocks for that but it does detract from the vibe.

Pros: The beers are excellent. They are constantly evolving and very creative. The owners and staff are awesome. They treat their business/jobs like a calling and they treat their customers like good friends. This place has done a great job promoting craft beer.

Cons: Too small for local demand. Every time I have been in there it has been packed, loud, and running out of beer. The owners should open about 5 more locations so people can spread out and enjoy the brew. I am so proud to have such a great business in our little community. :)

Marquette Michigan has a lot of great places to go while visiting and now I have a new one. Andy and Dave the originators/owners are two of the greatest and nicest guys you'll meet. They make some of the best hand crafted beers I have ever tasted. They put everything they got into making that perfect brew. New and exciting flavors are always making their way to the taps. I had the privilege to take a quick tour and talk with the brew master Andy. At that time he was making a wheat beer with an Atomic Fire Ball zest. Wish I could of tried it. They only serve 4 beers at a time and keep that place packed from open to close. I guess that says enough about the beer. Can't wait to be back. AWESOME!

Finally stopped in when I was in the area for Ore To Shore bike race. I've been keeping track of this place since I found out about it. They are only open Thurs-Sun (or when they run out of beer!). It's housed in a four square house with seating for maybe 6(?) at the bar, 2 high top tables, and a couple of lower tables. Plus they have a couch under the stairs. Its cozy but definitely a laid back, chill but friendly attittude. A newish outdoor seating area at least triples the chairs.
Service was really good. Beers were mostly ordered at the bar but I did see one waitress making rounds.
No food but outside friendly for sure. Only four beers on tap which is somewhat of a downer but all were good quality. They have an upcoming beer list so you know what could be tapped at anytime after one keg bites it. When I was here I came for three days straight and was looking forward to a cream ale on the upcoming list but it never made it on tap, it's somewhat disappointing. Galactic Brain Slap IPA was my favorite.

Stopped in after a couple BAs reccomended. Now im sure it was bc i went on the 4th of july weekend but i had a kinda lame time here. The place is small (converted house into brewery) so it was already filled when i got there to the point where you couldnt even walk nor order a brew. It was around 4 pm and they already sold out of every beer except 1 (about 12 dfrnt taps to begin with) left with a wit which was ok, very weak and too much carbonation. The place is pretty sweet though, almost everything is made from recycled bike parts... Rim and tube seats and tables, chain gears and rings for taps and some pretty sweet bike related art hanging around. I wanna stop by and give them another thisbtime not a holidaybweekend and hopefully a better tap selection. Next time brew more for thebcrazy weekend!

As said this place is small, an old house converted into a brewpub, 6 seats at the bar. They had four taps on while we were there each a different style and each was very good. The people working were very good and knew what they were doing and the beer that were on tap. They don't have food but we ordered food to go from a place down the street and brought it in. We were there on a Friday got there just after five when they opened and I'm glad we did, the place filled up within a half hour and didn't slow down the couple hours that we were there. Great little place can't wiat to go back.
