Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 fl oz can on August 2, 2018. Nice floral aromas. Notes of bitter citrus and tropical fruit. Clean crisp finish.

On tap. Poured a clear, golden amber color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of citrus, pine and toasted malt. Nice toasted caramel flavor with sweet citrus and pine.

12 oz. can:

Pours golden with a creamy white head that lasts. Lacing sticks.

The smell is of grapefruit with lemongrass.

The taste is of grapefruit bitterness with a touch of lemongrass. Sweet pale malt balances it in the middle. Finishes with a refreshing grapefruit-like bitterness. Alcohol very well-hidden.

Silky smooth. Easy to drink. A pleasantly refreshing - balanced basic American IPA.

12oz can - Citra, Galaxy, and Cascade - got it! Mmmmmm, tasty forest and mountains!

This beer pours a glassy, medium golden amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, rocky, and kind of shiny off-white head, which leaves some gnarly old growth forest profile lace around the glass as it quickly sinks away.

It smells of slightly musty citrus flesh (domestic orange and white grapefruit), grainy and somewhat doughy caramel malt, wet forest floor after the rain, a touch of earthy yeast, and more leafy, weedy, and kind of perfumed floral hop bitterness. The taste is semi-sweet, bready and doughy caramel malt, muddled, but still heady citrus rind, a hovering dead yeast cell thing, sort of stale-seeming pine and spruce tip astringencies, and further hints of exotic isles fruitiness.

The bubbles are pretty low-key in their plain and subservient frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and more or less smooth, the bitterness here not of the party-spoiling type, it would seem. It finishes kind of sweet, actually, the near pastry-level malt continuing to not take any prisoners - oh, and no sign of the 14-proof wowee sauce, so kudos for that.

Overall, the triad of hops employed in this offering appear to bump heads, or something, instead of showcasing their inherent awesomeness. Not a bad brew, but when the malt shows off more than the hops, it means that there's a drawing board waiting somewhere with this one's name on it.

Can from ABV.

A clear yellow with a large, egg white head with good retention and great lacing, this looks great! The nose is a pleasant blend of lightly fruity hops (grapefruit, a little peach) and a light but noticeable bready and doughy malt character. The palate opens with a moderate bitterness with flavors of grapefruit peel, grapefruit pith and some pine to go with a mild fruitiness. A little chalky from the cascade hops as well. The bready and doughy flavors are most noticeable on the mid-palate - the malt flavor here is actually quite excellent, subtle and well layered. Drying, mildly bitter and a little chalky on the finish, this beer is solid. Alcohol is a little higher than ideal, but this is one of the more impressive "balanced" IPAs I've had recently.
