Sound's Sommerweizen is a classic example of the Kristallweizen style that was born in the alpine regions of Germany and Austria. Crystal clear and clean with a delicate aroma of wheat and spice, Sommerweizen has a long lasting creamy head, and is refreshing, yet satisfying and full of flavor.

Had on tap at Sound Brewery. The body is a hazy golden yellow with a finger white head that quickly receded. Aromas consist of banana, bubblegum, and clove, with biscuity malts. Flavors are the same. The feel is medium bodied with high carbonation. The feel is also crisp and prickly.

Pours a murky dark honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of wheat, spice, banana, and yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly tart banana, spice, and yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that definitely isn't clear and has a tartness in the taste that is a bit odd to me.

Serving type: bottle.

A: Poured a glowing yellowish orange color with a nice white cap.

S: Wheat and Citrus notes. Pretty straightforward.

T: Big wheat presence upfront . Some light clove with big fruity citrus bites on this

M: Medium bodied.

O: Tasty, drinkable and robust version of a lighter beer but tasty and well done

I believe this is my first of the style. Reddish-gold color. Slightly hazy. Decent head, dissipates rather quickly with no trace. Smells a lot like a hefeweizen; grains, banana, fruitcake. Taste follows. Upfront with a German hefeweizen banana and yeast kind of taste which can sometimes be a turn off if overdone. This is well balanced with a strong bread/cracker finish.

Sometimes i picked up on some hints of Oysters in the taste which makes me think it would be good with a shellfish dinner. would definitely have this again.

Alright, well, I don't know much about kristalweizens, but hey I say why not, here goes.
I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance was a slight hazy golden yellow color with a one finger of white foamy lacing cilnging tightly to a slim head of a lacing.
The head was there and slowly going down at a good pace.
The smell had a good moderate sweet banana - to almost sligiht clove - like aroma.
The taste was mostly the same with a moderate cake-like flavoring in and around underneath.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a tad of sessionability of a great smoothness I somewhat just can't replicatete.
Overall, in my opinion, this was a pretty good kristalweizen that as far as I know was pretty good. Hell yeah, I would have this again.

Interestingly malty yet tangy. It's kind of the ideal German wheat brew-- not too sweet and estery, but with loads of aromatic flavors in a light bodied beer.

Tangy, sharpish, and pleasantly spritzy on the tongue. Very fragrant with cloves and banana, yet somehow more subtle and even sophisticated.

Delicious brew on tap at Swill Craft Beer Dispensary in Anacortes.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a tall weizen glass.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a light-to-moderate haze and a strong effervescence. Head pours a finger of frothy white head with limited retention. It's a nice looking beer, but the whole point of a kristalweizen is that it's clear.

Smell: rich, candylike banana fruitiness with a lightly wheaty character. Maybe not the most complex thing in the world, but I'm a sucker for a banana bomb wheat beer. Fantastico.

Taste: much like the aroma, there's a delightfully candylike banana flavor here. Toward the end, a grainier, wheaty maltiness appears. But that banana bomb -- absolutely love it.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: they market this as a kristalweizen, which by its appearance it is definitely not. But I'm willing to overlook all that because of the awesome aroma and flavor.

16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEGDT. Let the 40th birthday celebrations commence! Laissez les bons temps rouler!

This beer appears a hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with one fat finger of puffy, tightly foamy, and eventually rather creamy dirty white head, which leaves some decently broad swaths of Swiss cheese lace around the glass as things genially recede.

It smells of semi-sweet wheat malt, banana pudding, buttered white bread, muddled white pepper and clove spice, earthy yeast, and a subtle mustiness. The taste is more of a sharp, almost spicy wheaty graininess - very cream of wheat-like - damp banana chips, dry flocculated yeast, middling black pepper dust and clove spice, and more slightly musty, old-seeming dusty earthiness.

The carbonation is rendered as a fairly tightly held frothiness, and doled out on an apparent need to know basis, the body a sturdy middleweight for the style, and tacitly smooth, with a subtle airy creaminess. It finishes off-dry, just, as the lingering wheat malt falters not, as opposed to the fruit and spice notes.

Overall, this is a pleasant enough, and (almost) clear hefeweizen - the full gamut of flavours informing this offering, if in a somewhat straightforward manner. Quite quaffable on this typically sunny summer day around here, as we cusping Leos start to get 'er going!
