Small café with a bar and lounge, a modern and modest feel. A little too small and cramped. Hardly some food, but the coffee is high quality. Lacks "beer food". I think it's an underground place with mostly locals going there. A couple of taps, around 4, mostly unique beers from the region, like Acadie-Broue and Celtic Knot. Lots of bottles, around 40, mostly stuff from NB liquor and the region, but you can find some rare beers from Québec and even some Belgians. You can be surprised what you can find in there, for example an aging 2013 St-Ambroise Imperial Stout. Barman and owner is very friendly, and highly beer oriented. Almost have the proper glassware (get weizen glass for wheat beers), no lights in the fridge (thank you), and cellaring some bottles. The prices are really good for what quality you could get, like a 7$ Péché Mortel. Pretty cool place to visit for beer drinking travelers. Going back there for sure at my next Moncton visit.

An eclectic place located in a bustling and energetic neighborhood in midtown Moncton. Upon entering we found a VERY busy little space full of young professionals enjoying a myriad of beverages. We sauntered over to the bar and I was overjoyed to find out that they had a new Sticke Alt on tap from the tiny nano brewery Acadie Broue. Marky's is the ONLY place where Acadie beers are served, all of which is draft. Acadie produces a mere 100 liters (two 50 liter batches) a month!

After a few minutes we were lucky to obtain two seats at the small eight seat bar where we could enjoy our beers. Marky's only has three taps, but all are craft with two offerings from the local Pump House Brewery and the aforementioned Acadie Broue tap. The bottle selections are fairly diverse, considering the restrictive and annoying New Brunswick importation laws. The beer cooler offers upwards to 60 labels mainly consisting of Atlantic Canada and European craft offerings. Certainly not hard to find a couple of good beers for an evening to enjoy.

Since we had just eaten dinner food was not on our minds but Marky's does offer small plates to help satisfy one's hunger pangs. Choices include, various locally made pâtés, beef jerky, desserts du jour and tortillons (cheese twists). Marky's also offers quality made espresso, latté and capuccino.

After a while things did clear out a bit and the bartender engaged us in some conversation. Turns out he was also the owner, Marc Leger. Marc was excited to learn that I had done my research about Acadie Broue and sought out Marky's so that I could possibly get the opportunity to try one of their beers. While busy with other customers, Marc did his best to chat with us and offer some further suggestions. I asked about the freshness of the Garrison's DIPA he had in the cooler. He assured us that it is a good seller and does not lay around long enough to go bad but...maybe you would enjoy this more. How about a 2009 bottle of Garrison's Grand Baltic Porter? A highly decorated brew, the GBP was festooned with such accolades as Gold medal at the 2009 Canadian Brewing Awards and 2009 World Beer Championships and awarded Innovative Product of the Year at the 2009 Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards!

I figured, sure, why not...and we were NOT disappointed in the least! Thanks so much Marc for breaking this one out of your "cellar" collection for us!

Our time was running short as we had to drive out to the Casino for the Great Big Sea concert, the main reason we were in Moncton, so we finished our baltic porter, gave Marc a heartfelt thank you and bid Marky's adieu!

I am sure we will return to this cozy and friendly establishment the next time our travels lead us to/through Moncton. A place that is certainly a little diamond in the rough!
