I love the silky smoothness the protein in oysters lends to a stout but it's no good if not added to a strong foundation. Poured from a can, this dark brown beer formed no head at all. The taste is toasty, nutty, and somewhat bittersweet chocolately. No carbonation to speak of and no real body either; would expect more viscosity with a stout. Aftertaste lingers and is pleasantly unoffensive. I drink local when I can and this is a decent offering for an SC brewer but considering the rapidly growing selection in the Southeast and elsewhere, your money is better spent on an alternative.

Pours a clear deep brown-black with ruby highlights producing less than a finger of finely bubbled, shortlived, mocha head that leaves only a thin wash of lace. Aroma is briney chocolate & roast with a hint of nuts. Taste is dark roasted malt, cocoa, iron, mineral & salt, with a peppery finish & bitter aftertaste that is a little out of character for the style. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied with substantial carbonation, slightly chewy with a nice spice.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a dark brown to black color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is full of roasted malt. The taste matches the nose. An excellent beer.

Pours a dark brown color with an off white head. Aroma is deeply roasted and very enticing. The flavor is richly malty has a slight mineral element. It comes out more as it warms. Full bodied and well carbonated. Really good.
