Poured from a can into a shaker pint, the beer is a dark brown coloring, slightly muddled, with a thin, low profile, light tan head. Aromas of coffee, roasted and sweet hazelnut, toffee sweetness, and a underlying hops citrus and bitterness. The nose is more balanced and substantial than a lot of browns out there. Flavors are nutty and roasted forward, with an immediate blast of resin and citrus hops in the backbone. This is a unique take on the brown style; much hoppier than usual. Some chocolate notes are in there, too, but just about all of the sweetness is cut by the heavy dose of hops character at the end of the palate. The body is smooth and light, and the beer has a hoppy aftertaste of bitterness, citrus sweet, and pine. Smooth, slightly drying finish. Interesting brew, almost getting into the realm of IBA.

From a can. Gift from a friend who was down South recently.

Appearance: Deep hazy brown. Thin head with very little lacing and a small white cap that didn't last long.

Smell: Sweet, hoppy and herbal. An almost soapy aroma, but not in a bad way.

Taste: A little thin and semi-sweet malty flavor up front, followed by a unique bitter hops flavor from the Amarillo and Nugget hops. This is a unique tasting beer, and I like the originality of the flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and a bit thin. Semi-sweet with a little bitter bite on the finish. Not bad.

Overall: This is a good and original interpretation of a Brown Ale with the extra hops thrown in. The use of Amarillo and Nugget hops give it a unique and herbal flavor profile that I like. I would drink this again.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark brown color with a large head. Has a strong malt aroma and has an excellent hop/citrus flavor. The palate is a medium bodied American Brown Ale. Excellent beer with an eye-catching can. Highly recommended

On tap at Closed for Business. Served in a goblety pint glass.

Appearance - Deep brown. Excellent lacing from a small off-white head.

Smell - Nutty and chocolatey. Not a very intense aroma. Some earthy hops behind it.

Taste - Very chocolatey. Caramel and chocolate dark malts. The hops come up aggressively behind it. Overly bitter, but it does cut a bit of the sugars. Lingering sharp hop bite.

Mouthfeel - The finish is a little abrasive. Too bitter and sharp. Medium bodied.

Overall - Enjoyable, but a very different beer in the front and the back end.

A big shout out to the legendary woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Despite zero agitation, this can came gushing out, spilling out of the glass and onto my Reggie White throwback jersey. Has a dark chestnut color with several inches of head. Smell is malty, nutty, some hops as well. Taste is surprisingly hop forward, some citrus, malts are present but take a back seat. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, a bit different for the style, but an enjoyable beer.
