I tried this down in Hilton Head at the house my bestie rented. It poured a deep amber with slightly off-white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had bitter hop. The taste was bitter leaning and closer to sour dough. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with decent carbonation. Overall it was ok...not sure I'd go out of my way for it.

12oz can poured into a snifter glass:

Look: Pours a dark brown with about an inch of head! Lacing is present with ok retention!

Smell: Plenty of roasted malts, caramel, and even some hops popping thru!

Taste: Taste follows the nose for me! This has a bit more hop bite than most of the other browns I have had!

Feel: Medium bodied.

Overall: Decent brown ale but nothing outstanding that would make me want to grab this again! Glad I picked up a bottle while here in Hilton Head to give this a try!

L - Dark brown, with 1 finger of head and some lacing

S - Slightly hoppy, roasted malts. Everything is light

T - roasted malts and hops, but nothing dominates

F - Light carbonation, not much going on here

O - An ok brown, but not going into a regular rotation

From a can in Charleston, SC. Pours as a hazy brown with a one-finger tan head. Aroma of caramel and hops. Taste is a nice balance of sweet malts and a tangy hops. Some nondescript citrus tastes. Body is a bit watery; not horribly so just not great.

Pretty good Brown Ale. Pours a dark mahogany color from a 12 oz can into a pint glass. Lots of ruby highlights coming through on the glass. Medium size tan frothy tan head with good retention and frothy bands of lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malt and some fragrant hops. Taste is more of the same, a mostly malty beer with some nice aromatic/floral hops in the finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, goes down real easy even at 6.8% abv. The hops presences makes this anything but a "boring Brown Ale". Well worth a try.

Pours a deep, dark brown with a good sized head that leaves a bunch of lace while it recedes to a persistent film.
Smell is roasted malts, tea, light hops.
Taste is roasty, Darjeeling tea (nice) brings in floral and light smoke notes. Balanced nicely.
Body is a bit weak, effervescence is reasonably restrained. A good, solid brown ale. I like it.

From a can. Gift from a friend who was down South recently.

Appearance: Deep hazy brown. Thin head with very little lacing and a small white cap that didn't last long.

Smell: Sweet, hoppy and herbal. An almost soapy aroma, but not in a bad way.

Taste: A little thin and semi-sweet malty flavor up front, followed by a unique bitter hops flavor from the Amarillo and Nugget hops. This is a unique tasting beer, and I like the originality of the flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and a bit thin. Semi-sweet with a little bitter bite on the finish. Not bad.

Overall: This is a good and original interpretation of a Brown Ale with the extra hops thrown in. The use of Amarillo and Nugget hops give it a unique and herbal flavor profile that I like. I would drink this again.

this happens to be my current favorite. although, I will say the last 6 pack I bought was a little off, irony tasting, and waaaay over carbonated. each can I opened nearly exploded as if someone had stood and shaken it for 30 mins. im giving them the benefit of the doubt though since I like it so much. ive had black ipa's that taste pretty close to this but the cleanness/smoothness ive experienced with this beer in the past (not this last 6 pack) has put it above and beyond all others. it pours really well, in the past, and typically has a really nice head on it similar to a good porter.
