FUNKY AND BARNYARDY I was not a fan of this beer. I rate it based on a farmhouse ale in which case i think it was a very good example from the flavors I have come to know from farmhouse ales. I had a 2013 sofie two weeks ago that tasted exactly like this but MUCH stronger and over carbed.

I had a bottle from 2016 february ( 2.5 years old) in a tulip glass.

Appearance - Normal golden color with white head, more carbed than expected but head did not last leaving just a small amount of white while sipping.
Aroma - Smelled sour and herbal, no notes of hops which was disapointing but i had a 2 year old bottle so completely expected. I cant describe the aroma well but it is distinct, my friends said it smelled like citrus cider, i think astringent citrus would be a decent description.
Taste - Like a farmhouse ale, very much like the 6 year old sofie by goose island i had and apex predator by off color. I think the flavors were better balanced though very barnyard it was very drinkable and enjoyable. The taste i say is barnyard i would have previously said maybe a black licorice sort of herbal.
Overall - Good, would not buy again especially for $8. If you love farmhous ales then youll love this if its old.

Poured into a Crooked Stave snifter

A: Golden yellow with a slight haze. Thin white head
S: Sweet mango, ripe peach, pineapple, apricot, tangerine, earthy Brett, juicy fruit gum
T: Mango, passion fruit, peach, apricot, earthy Brett, funk, pear, light sour, acidic at end, bitter, lemon, grapefruit
M: Light and fluffy
O: Holy crap this thing surprised me. Definitely a top 3 beer Crooked Stave beer for me. So many flavors that are very well integrated together. Had no expectations on this one. I haven't had many dry hopped sours but I know this stands well above Le Terroir for me

Very appealing slightly hazy gold in color, head formed easily but receded in short order.

A fairly hoppy beer for a sour ale. Totally delicious and worth seeking out. I really enjoyed the funky aroma mixed with the tart crisp mouthfeel and the hoppy finish. Flavors were in the lemon and tart green apple realm. Would love to to know the yeast strains used for this beer. It has some Brett qualities but lacked the voluminous rocky head that is often a Brett beer's signature.

Listed as a dry-hopped golden sour. Golden, apple juice color. Stinky and citrus hop aromas on the nose. A lot more body than other CS sours. A slight tinge of wild yeast but mellows into a sticky hop flavor and even a bit of malt sweetness. Manages to be crisp but not light. The aromas really jump out. Compared to the Hop Savant series, this actually let's the hops stand out rather than hide in the background. Great choice if you don't want to go straight sour.

Received as an extra in a trade. March 2015 bottle

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice dark brown hue with a thin one finger off white head that fades slowly to leave light lacing and a thin blanket with fluffier halo.

S - Aromas of light hay, softer lightly sweet malts, nice funk and brett, lemons, biscuits, light white wine/vinous notes, little bit of apples and dark roast, nice mustiness too.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Lots of almost lacto and brett funk, biscuits, lemons, apple skin, soft oak barrels, white wine. Lemons pop on the finish along with a fair amount of mustiness. Finish is lightly flemmy.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, lightly sticky.

O - Overall this was a solid dark sour from Crooked Stave. Nice funk notes here without being over the top.

Picked up on a recent trip to Colorado. The bottle date is June 2015, poured into a 12oz. tulip glass.

Pours a hazy but brilliant gold with a generous finger of lively, soapy white foam.

Smell- Acidic vinegar, barnyard funk, lemon drops in the back.

Taste- Starts acidic and sour. It then turns towards lemon zest with some hop spiciness in the finish.

Feel- Mouth puckering, but not over the top. A pleasant tingle going down with a slick and refreshing finish.

Overall- A very complex beer with flavors that waft between sour funk and citric fruit. A nice hop presence still in the back despite its age. A tasty and refreshing beer that I'd gladly drink again.

Pours a bright orange/golden color and is slightly hazy into a CS Tulip. Slight but creamy, barely off white head dissipates somewhat quickly with some lacing. Nose is of mostly of hops.. lemon, guava, pear, mango, pine, stone fruit, but there is some very slight farm in the the background. The taste is complex, with lemon, grapefruit, guava, mango, malt, and a touch of tangelo and funk on the finish ... This beer gets really delicious when it warms up. Do not drink this really cold! Its not extremely tart, but perfectly balanced with everything else that is going on with this beer... the illusion of bitterness and wonderful aroma from the dry hopping just sets it off. Most likely Citra. Really like the funk on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium and almost has a
creamy-ness to it. Probably some oats in there. Overall highly recommended.

A: Poured into a tulip to a pale and cloudy gold topped by two fingers of dense white head that fade to a small pool with some lacing
S: Smells of funk, sourness and citrus with some fruity notes.
T: Taste is nice and tart with some pineapple and citrus up front, a little horseblanket at times as well as some dry cracker like malt. Good citrus throughout. Swallow is more citrus and pineapple with some lingering tartness and a slight minty herbal note.
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium in body with a nice active carbonation and a dry finish
O: Overall this is another well made wild ale from the folks at crooked stave. The beer has nice flavors and complexity with a really nice tartness that doesn't overshadow the other things going on. Definitely one to try if you can find it.

Look: hazy, yellow, gold, decent head, delicate lacing
Smell: tangerine, mandarin oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, grass, hoppy... fruity but not sweet
Taste: bitter then the brett kicks in with the sour, pineapple, fruity
Feel: light, crisp, foams up on the palate slightly
Overall: good for a wild ale, not a favorite, but solid
