the latest in what has been a really good series of beers. this one is very very authentic on the raspberries, both tart and sweet. while there isnt much head on it, the beer is real pretty in the glass, rose pink colored, neon bright, and with just a bit of haze. it smells and tastes less sour than most of the other ones i have had, but the fruit comes through just as much, picking up about mid palate and finishing with the beer. the acidity seems less to me, less pucker, more funk to this one, its really good. at a lower abv too its easy to puck back quite a bit of this stuff. pretty awesome they have this one tap right now, quite the special brew. even though its not heady, there is some really nice carbonation on it, and just a little fruity residual sugar that works in this case to balance it out. i grabbed a bottle too, im sure this will evolve splendidly. crooked stave is on a heck of a run of cool new beer right now!

edit: this was way better fresh and has fallen off significantly in the fruit and taken on a lot more sour acidity over time. there has even developed a slight minty or menthol quality about it, still real tasty, but fresh was the go here.

A: The beer is clear light red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly settled down, leaving some lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of sourness are present in the nose along with notes of raspberries.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is rather sour but has pleasant flavors of raspberries. The sourness lingers into the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and quite tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a good balance between the sourness and raspberriesā€”neither of these are overdone.

Clean, crisp and correct, the simplistic line of sour ale from the Crooked Stave team highlights the ripe, radiant and irresistible succulent tang of raspberry.

Petite Sour Raspberry pours a glowing, bright rosy mauve color with deep pink tethers of darkness and depth. A fluffy, pillowy cloud of foam daintily rests on top and draws in the nose with its piquant berry tartness and the winey, cidery foundation underneath. With a brisk waft of sea mustiness, the taste comes with light pastry, dry jammy and decidedly fruity pep of sweetness.

As the carbonation carries away the faint malt sweetness, the remnants of berry and ale create a dialogue on the middle palate that speaks of the moderately robust berry taste and the green apple, lime, lemon and vinous white wine taste that rests just below the berry boldness. Bracing acidity plays a distinctly but cleanly tune on the finish that tightens the jaws and nearly inducing a bead of sweat on the cheek.

Dry, crisp and remarkably clean, the dedicated sourness trends winey with sharp champagne and a short linger of vine ripe raspberry. A kiss of pastry and the fine must of burlap return in a retro olfactory kind of way in a subtle echo of flavor.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy ruby reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with light notes of oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruit/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, oak, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with light notes of oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, wheat, cracker, white bread, pepper, light funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruit/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, oak, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from tartness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an outstanding fruit sour ale! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance fruit/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, oak, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly lactic/tangy/drying finish. Not as jammy as I would have liked; but this has awesome well rounded Brett/Lacto complexity; great authentic raspberry fruit and oak presence; with a solid malt backbone to control the acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy red/violet color with a pinkish head that sticks nicely and leaves a fair amount of lace

Smell: Tart raspberry tones in the aroma; slight funk

Taste: Raspberry flavor, up front, with a lactic bent; the fruit builds through the middle, with a slightly funky character that adds complexity; tart, but not overwhelmingly so, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; slightly puckery

Overall: Bursting with fruit, this is an enjoyable beer that will not knock your socks off in the sour aspect

Pink / orange hue with a slightly tinted foam collar. Not a ton of carbonation but sufficient. Aroma has a touch of malt, slight funk, more subtle acidity than many CS beers, and a seedy (in a good way) raspberry aroma. Flavor follows, little sweetness, authentic raspberry flavor that melds with the base beer's oak and citrusy funk instead of overwhelming it with jamminess.

Pink color and clear. No head really with a single steak for lace.

More sour than raspberry but true to form.

The taste is like a low sugar framboise. Lots of sourness. Good body with ample carbonation. An easy to drink sour.

Pours an effervescent blush color a sliver of fast-falling pinkish head. Very nice lacing & average head retention

S: Lots of raspberry, some band-aid

T: Raspberry, tartness, dryness & a little lemon& a little oaky dryness up front. More of the same as this warms, a real raspberry sweet tart thing going on here. Finishes dry with raspberry & fairly puckery tartness & just a kiss of sour green apple

MF: Light body, slight carbonation

Drinks fairly easy, like most of their stuff, well worth a try
