750ml bottle served in a pair of small Cantillon glasses. I think this is the right listing.

Pours very dark, maybe black, with a small to nonexistent head, little carbonation. Smell is bourbon and cherries. Some tartness.

Taste is super tart, a little vanilla, a lot of cherries.

Mouthfeel is smooth, fairly light, slightly chalky. Overall, it's pretty good.

A- Dark, dark brown with medium head that doesn't last long.
S- Sour, tart fruit. Earthy Funk. Some booze.
T- Really sour. Dark Fruits. Finishes with a nice sweet and heavy fruit and malt flavor.
M- Sour, medium carbonation. Some astringency.
D- One of the top American sours that I have had. Very sour but loaded with flavor. Great beer.

Poured into snifter, split 4 ways

Dark, with minimal head and no lacing
Tart with some roast in the background but mostly barrel and lactic sour. No real funk to speak of.
No real whiskey presence on the palate with medium to light body

overall a nice beer - nothing special or surprising, but a decent take on a sour dark ale

Black with no head or lacing to speak of, just a small collar.

The aroma is delightful with sweet apple, vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon. This is balanced with a counterpoint of assertive tartness, think cherries, and smooth whiskey.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with the assertive sour notes of cherry in the front with some funk. This is followed by subtle notes of vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, and whiskey.

A medium mouth feel with almost no carbonation whatsoever. Tart somewhat dry on the finish.

Another really different but delicious sour in this series from CS! It was nice trying this alongside the wine barrel version to see what the different barrels did to the base beer!

Thanks to Joseph for sharing this one at Wowcoolman's tasting.

Bottled 6/2015. Batch 5.

Pours a murky dark brown with a foamy khaki head that fades to nothing. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is sour with roasted malt, dark fruit, apple brandy, wood, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour dark fruit, apple brandy, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty but quite sour.

Serving type: bottle.

Dark pour, brett funk and intense acidity on the nose, the rich dark malts round out the flavor in one of the most complex tasting wild ales I have tasted. The apple whiskey is mostly in the background, but all the variations of Nightmare on Brett are great.

One of the better beers I've tasted. An excellent balance of apple whiskey and Brettanomyces funk. Pours dark with an off white head. Smells of barnyard, whiskey, subtle apple. Taste - acidic/tart up front with smoothing effect of whiskey and roasted notes.

Served on draft.
