2015 vintage, this beer rules. its cool because it tastes like the guava has some natural tartness of its own, and it really meshes well with the wild yeasts in here. the beer is insanely tart, really puckery but somehow without being overly acidic. i sort of always associate the two, sourness and acidity, as going hand in hand, and not that this isnt a bit acidic, but its kind of unique in that its one without the other at the same level. the guava is well dosed, juicy and fresh, and unlike a lot of the other fruited beers in this series, the fruit doesnt seem to contribute much sweetness. the guava flavor is tropical and summery and bright, very authentic and fresh, and has me wondering why they havent tried other tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, or even coconut (yum!). mouthwatering for sure, slightly wheaty, bretty and sour alike, excellent fusion with the fruit, and just delicious and summery tasting to me. on tap at the new chuburger in rino, who has really upped their beer list lately. this is delicious.

A 375ml bottle bottled in August 2015, poured into a Cantillon ballon glass.

Appearance: It poured a hazy golden colour with a less than one finger white head that dissipated almost immediately and leaves only sparse to no lacing.

Aroma: Funk, sour, tartness and oak. Tropical fruit, mostly guava, passionfruit and mango.

Taste: Sour, tart and funky. Fruit is a bit light, but its there. Citrus lemon followed by some tropical guava and grapes. Lightly oaky on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: Nice tart sourness but the fruit especially guava (since that is in the name) was on the light side.

From a 375 ml bottle (August 2015) to a tulip glass. Reviewed from notes dated June 15, 2016.

A-The bottle opens with a little gush of white foam, but it settles down and pours with no problems. The short head fades immediately and leaves no lacing or collar. The beer is light yellow with hints of pink. It is mostly clear.

S-The aroma is quite tart with a light lactic funkiness. Hints of vanilla from the oak blend with vague tropical fruit notes and peach flavors.

T-The taste is also on the sour side of things (as you would expect). A mild tropical fruit flavor (not guava really, but something like guava) mixes with a tart lemon acidity and a bit of lactic funk. The finish is really long on my palate.

M-The beer is lighter than average with fine persistent carbonation.

O-It has been a while since I have had a CS beer and they are still pretty tasty. This beer was nice, and the Petite Sour base is a good jumping off point, but it could use a little more guava flavor to make things interesting.

On tap at ChurchKey. Poured into a small snifter.

A nice sour/wild ale that while pretty to look at seems just above average in my opinion. 3.75

A – Pours a nice glowing orange with no head to speak of. 4.25

S - Lactic 3.75

T - More sour than tart. The guava is there but far from dominant. 3.75

MF – Medium body with a dry finish. 4
