Formerly Petite Sour Rosé
Crisp. Sour. Bubbly. Elegant.
Primary fermented with our mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria, Sour Rosé undergoes secondary fermentation in large oak foeders on raspberries and blueberries. Showcasing the effervescent, champagne-type character, Sour Rosé is the perfect sour beer for all seasons and occasions. Unfiltered and naturally wild, we package each can with a small amount of yeast to maintain maximum freshness for wherever life's adventures take you.

Offering a sense of comfort and approachable demeanor, the Petite Sour collection of sour ale by Crooked Stave gets out of the fruit friendly additions and into an herbal, floral, winey taste for complexity, variety and charm.
Bright, tangy and earthy, the nose is rife with wine. Caught between red and white varieties, this rosé version shares the robustness of red but the daintiness of white vinous fruit and spice as the nose becomes alive with cider, pepper, tainted cork and damp hay. Shy on sweetness, its grape upstart continues what it's bright blush and rosé hues promise.
As the ale unfolds, its taste is less malt reliant and more confident with sourness. Cider, dry rosé, lime, lemon and gooseberry carry a piquant sour taste across a bed of dry wheat and hay, an herbal hop complement and a yeast spice of weathered oak, burlap and horse blanket in retro olfactory fashion.
Simple, pure and dry, the ale's cider and wine influences keep the session crisp, clean and highly thirst quenching. Delicate with both a floral and rustic bouquet, the finish is mildly carbonated for zip of sparkling wine and a highlight of the beer's peppery taste that lingers in a short wheaten afterglow.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75
Appearance - The beer poured like Cherry 7up, with bisible carbonation.
Smell - The nose had a lot of nice fresh raspberries with a sense of dryness in back.
Taste - I was disappointed that the fruit from the nose doesn't carryover the taste. Overall profile was very dry with oak going to the roof of the mouth.
Mouthfeel - If there was any hope of sweetness, it gets brushed away by the carbonation.
Overall - I was not expecting a fruit beer, but this was way too dry for my liking.

im not sure why i would like a beer made with just the fruit skins more than a beer made with the entire fresh fruit, but that seems to be the case here. some of their fruited ones, especially with berries, are so intense that the wild aspects may be muddled a bit, not fully appreciated in some respects, maybe all the sugar, so this softer, spent fruit edition is really something i welcome. soft pink, they got the name right on, and with little more than a thin layer of white bubbles for a head. it smells more like raspberries than any other fruit, but i get red apple too, maybe a little blueberry and white wine grape, its a pretty dynamic fruit complexion, more tart than sweet or jammy in the flavor too, but more balanced than almost anything i have had from these guys. its all about the funk and the tang, nothing too weird or too acidic, super clean almost, brightened by the fruit. i get raspberry at the front of all this, but apple is there again too. this seems more delicate than anything they have done lately, more refined, almost more mature too, with all the dryness. carbonation is revved up, and it finishes very clean, less woody and musty than others. seemingly a little less sour too, i could drink quite a few of these in one go. these guys are putting out a ton of beers right now, but this might be the best among them. really impressive brew from something that on paper wouldnt appear to yield something so magical.

Super solid low abv wild ale offering. Would definitely buy again if a little cheaper but at $8 I can't justify it.
