Pure, simple and clearly devoted to Colorado peaches, the light bodied, fast fermenting and subtle aging of Crooked Stave's Petite Sour series stops at the summertime delight of bushels upon bushels of orchard fresh, branch ripe peaches.

Petite Sour Peach is a hazy golden beer with radiant carbonation and a short, loosely knit froth. Somewhat of a foamy champagne appearance, the beer's pop readily to fuel a musty wine scent that's chocked full of natural citrus, cider and orchard fruit along with those unmistakable tangy perfume of fresh peaches. Crusty and somewhat pastry-like, the sweet and dry bread flavors begin to couple with the light fruit sweetness for the roundness of cobbler or tarte.

As the sweetness and crustiness drifts, the brunt of sourness brings a clean lactic sourness that circulates around lime, lemon, green apple, white grape, gooseberry and passionfruit. Dry and nearly vinegar sour, the essence of dry white wines, dry cider and peach wines align for a highly refreshing sangria taste with the mineral zing that peaches provide.

Highly acidic and light in body, the beer's carbonation and acidity effortlessly breaks up any thirst and refreshes the palate with its natural and added fruit presence; making it perfect for warm spring days and an ideal accompaniment to summer salads. A brief echo of burlap and cork deliver the slightest nod of earthiness and pungency while ultimately finishing clean and crisp.

Light golden colored with excellent clarity and just some faint traces of sediment are suspended within the body. There's a fingernail of dishwater white around half of the rim and covering about a third of the top. The aroma is of delicate peaches and a touch of woodsy oak. Moderate carbonation and a dry, crisp finish from the oak aging.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a nice looking bright golden yellow color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Slight clingy semi-spider web lace.
The aroma had a nice sweet to sour peach flesh up front with a solid tartness from the skin stiffening up some vinous character, slight dry-like driftwood sweetness. Subtle sweet fresh grass.
The flavor presented a slight semi-acidic soothing pucker flowing over a moderate sweet peach flesh tartness and slid into the aftertaste just how I wanted it to.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, seemed to sit just a touch underneath with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt a bit under but actually felt really good for tonight (smoothed out altogether? Well, somewhat, I wonder if this bottle is aged, I don't see any dates anywhere).
Overall, this was an exceptionally nice American wild ale for a humid late Summer's night. I'd have again.

7/1...pours clear yellow, light white foam. Light peach citrus backed nose. White wine comes into play as well, but peach influenced. Light sour, chardonnay like taste. The quick sour fades out.

Lightly hazed orange, momentary foam and delicate drippy lace.
Peach aroma is mild but present, straightforward and acidic.

Mildly oxidized and acetic, peach juice comes through with a drying oak finish.
Feels like peach drinking vinegar shrub, though balanced enough to not come off as straight vinegar.
There isn't much nuance or barrel character present, but it is fairly peachy thankfully.
These are the type of one-dimensional, overpriced "sours" I tend to avoid, but it's not all bad.

12.7 ounce bottle, no dating on it that I noticed. Served in a teku, the beer pours a hazy pale gold color with about an inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like peaches, funk, oak, and bready/grainy malt. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, but there's also some lemon and vinegar noticeable too. Nice amount of fruit and tartness in this brew. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good enjoyable fruited wild ale, certainly worth picking up! $7.99 a bottle.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color and has a faint amount of visible carbonation. It poured with just a thin white head and a collar of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of peaches and funk are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has sour flavors of peaches along with hints of funk.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and somewhat tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't too sour or heavy on the palate—it could be considered a Session Wild Ale if there was such a style.

A: Poured into a tulip to a light straw colored yellow topped by a finger of dense white head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of light funk and sourness with some juicy peach notes
T: Taste is juicy peach flavor with a hint of tartness that builds a little. Light funk as well but mostly juicy peaches and sourness. Swallow is lingering tartness and juicy peach notes with slight funk and cracker like malts at the very end.
M: This beer is somewhat light but not watery on the palate with soft carbonation that is just under prickly while the beer has a drying finish
O: Overall this is really nice. Not the most complex or tart beer but very well balanced. The beer has some great flavors that make this one an enjoyable drink.
