375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Deep reddish brown. I can count the number of bubbles on one hand. Dismally dead looking.
Smell - Tons of caramel, some fruits. Dark fruits with an acidity to the nose.
Taste - Sharp acidity covers up a lot of the quad. Still a fair amount of caramel. Sharp clean sourness. Fruity.
Mouthfeel - Low carbonation. Medium heavy body.
Overall - Not sold on this. The sourness doesn't add to it. Just makes me wonder if it was a quality base quad.

Pours like an over-steeped cold black tea... swampy brown body with little to no head, thick boozy legs ta boot.
Mushy cherries, dates, caramel/toffee, hot wood bits, more dark fruits, nothing obviously 'wild' about this judging by the nose alone. Some faint leather, bourbon, slightly tart yeast notes far and away.
Ooh, yep... there's the sour. Such a unique tasting beer. Sort of reminiscent of a sour brown? Overripe cherries, sweet tobacco, figs, the bourbon and the tartness have such a strange and tasty relationship, some sweet fruit, no real discernible alcohol presence - such a massive and complex drink. Incredible.
Feel is just as thin as it looks but I actually quite enjoy it - it allows for an uninhibited experience of the vast and complex flavors.
Wow. Many thanks to quirkzoo for this beer. Fantastic.

Review entered from notes. Draft at the old taproom into a snifter. The beer is a reddish brown in color with just a light wisp of head and a thin ring. The malty quad side of the equation provides some dark fruits - raisin, prune, apple - mingled with a sharply acidic sour side. Nice musty, funky aroma becoming more sour and vinegar on the palate. Unexpected touches of toasted coffee and cocoa here and there. The bourbon barrel presence comes through modestly. Moderate in body with a low to moderate carbonation. I enjoyed this one, but there’s lots of competing character and it’s a little brash at times.

Thanks, Andrew.
Ruddy turbid brown body topped by a thin film. Funky, smoky nose. Very earthy, some mushroom notes, faint bourbon. Nice acidity on the palate, dark fruit, red currant. Full body with medium-low carbonation. Mild bourbon barrel tannins and vanilla notes pop out in the finish. A pretty nice soured quad with impressively well hidden alcohol.
