Gonna redo my review since this new batch is a vast improvement from the original one, imo.

Pours black with a slight off white head. Aroma offers some dark fruits, vinegar, and roasty, with a cross of some dark chocolate and coffee. Not sure I detected any barrel in the aroma. Flavor is dark fruits, tartness from the vinegar, roastiness giving off some mocha, vanilla from the barrel, and the barrel itself. A lighter to medium mouthfeel. Overall, really nice beer here. After having this one again on tap, wishing I had grabbed a bottle of it when I had the chance.

Stopped by Crooked Stave's brewpub for the first time today to check out their on site selection.

Quick review from the small amount of notes I took.

A&S: the aroma was very similar to a quad. Dark fruits, touches of smokiness. Beer was a medium brown translucent color. Head had lots of retention (even without considering it is almost 10% alcohol) and was light brown colored

T&M: Very intense sourly tones. Finish was bitter and clean. Probably would have paired well with cheese. Surprisingly not a whole lot of any bourbon in the taste. Kinda on the acidic side. Body was on the light side of medium and the carbonation was on the high side of medium.

Overall: From the description of this style, this beer seems a bit different. The beer was on the pricey side (5 bucks for I think 5 oz!)

"Baltic (ish) porter aged in bourbon barrels"
Poured from tap into cs snifter tulip at the brewery. Pours a deep rich black brown with thin tanish head. Superb wild brett aromas, malty coffee and taste is great coffee and bourbon, roasted malts, sweet dried fruit and of course wild brett. Just fantastic. Its so smooth and just so much flavor and complexity. One of the most unique porters ive ever had. These guys are really doing some amazing things with beer.
