This was my first sour beer in a long long time.
It was so refreshing. I only wish I could have poured it into a glass instead of drinking from the bottle.
It had that nice sour apple taste with some wild yeast that just balanced perfectly.
I am so glad I went back and had this sour beer. Makes me think about how great they can be

Served on tap and out of the bottle updating tasting notes

A — Pours a slightly hazy light orange hue into the glass, there is not much of a lingering head, it just dissipates and leaves behind some spots of lace, but not much.

S — Smells very rustic and bright, the oak is very evident here in the best possible way, there is a really nice lemony tartness that develops as well.

T — Tastes much like the nose in that it is oak focused and driven, there is a rustic quality to this one that is a bit hard to describe. Very oak driven, lightly piney and peppery, balanced with a lemony tartness.

M — Medium bodied, the high carbonation level helps cut down on that though.

O — Very nice, I prefer this one to the Vieille, it is slightly more oak forward and not quite as sharp.

375ml bottle, 2013/batch 8, poured into a tulip glass

A- pours a bright, clear and deep golden color with a small foamy white head that reduces almost completely, leaving just a ring around the edge

S- wet hay mixes with aromas of barnyard funk, lemon peel, earthy and musty yeast, ripe pear, apple skin & some floral aromas, closing out with most earthy funk

T- big punch of sour lemon tartness up front quickly moves to notes of wet hay, basement must and funky yeast. Fruity notes of pear and apple skin kick in mid-palate before before giving way to vinous notes of oak barrel and sour grape. Floral and lemongrass notes on the finish with more funk on the linger

M- medium-light body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy motel that transitions into a fine dry puckering finish

O- Very good saison that has all of the farmhouse funk that I love

2014, Batch 12

Pours an effervescent amber/honey color with a sliver of pearl white head. Average head retention & lacing

S: Grassyness, much sourness, apple blossoms & funk

T: Sourness, pears, oakyness/Chardonnay up front. Tartness/sourness leads the way as this warms, a little appleskin as well. Finishes tart & dry, a little acidic, & plenty sour

MF: Light/medium bodied, slight carbonation, acidic

A lovely example of a soured up take on the style. So happy to get to try these guys again

A-cloudy light orange color with a thin layer of white head that quickly disappears to leave a bit of lace around the top

S-yeast, a little sour, fruit tartness, and pale malts

T-lemon and fruity tartness, slight vinegar, light malt, and funky yeast

M-medium body, moderate carbonation

Overall this is my first "sour" beer and I really did not expect it to be as sour as it is. An interesting style. Not sure it's my thing.
