Serving type: bottle

A: 4.25 Golden yellow, slightly hazy, with a small off white head. Good retention.

S: 4 Lemon and some funk up front with a bit if pepper and oak on the finish. Hops, green apple, and other citrus also present but subtler.

T: 4.25 Rather tart up front, more so than expected. The lemon really comes through here as does the oak. Hops are more mild but still go well with the green apple flavors from the nose. A bit of wheat on the finish. Some esters present as well, which you would expect from a more classic saison, but they're toned way down and don't come with the sweetness usually found with this style.

M: 4.5 Crisp and refreshing with nice levels of carbonation and a slightly dry, minerally finish.

O: 4.25 Great drinking beer with plenty of interesting things going on while remaining refreshing and easy to drink. Takes some of my favorite elements of a saison and matches them with the flavors and aromas typical of a dry-hopped sour.

Bottle poured into tulip. Hazy orange-yellow with soapy white head that leaves streaks of lacing. Aroma brings brett funk, green oak, tart citrus and grapes, and light malt. Flavors are tart citrus, barnyard funk, oaky bitterness, and earthy throughout. Medium body, thin texture, moderate-high carbonation, and a dry finish.

Batch 12 of 2014. Pours lemon-juice yellow with a thin head -- not much carbonation at this point. Not sure how it was cellared.

Smells like scored lemon rind with a bit of funk. Decent amount of oak but well-balanced, a bit of toasted white bread, and the smallest bit of spice, but mostly sour lemon.

Taste is very similar to the nose. Starts with mildly tart lemon juice with some nice oak, moving through notes of funk, and a smooth, bready finish with very subtle notes of coriander or spice and lingering citrus. Seems at least a little under-carbed, but I would probably guess that's the age at play.

Nice lemon sour tasting saison. Faint taste of oak barrel. Very well done saison. Wish I could get this on the regular
