Notes: This brew is made of a blend of different hops (36% Citra, 36% Mosaic, and 28% Simcoe). To keep things interesting, each batch is dry hopped using different experimental hops varietals. The bottles are marked on the back to show which strain was used for that specific batch.

Very large head requiring the bartender to let the first pour settle for nearly five minutes. The second pour leaves the beer with a lasting dome. Result: Streaky lace. The liquid is dirty gold with a strong haze.

Lightly sour aroma with a balance of lighter malt and mild floral hop.

The flavor has a yeast bite reminiscent of home brew. The Brett is not too strong but gives this beer a distinctly Belgian flavor. Pronounced hop shows up at the end of the tasting leading to a balanced, bitter, and yeasty, finish.

L (4.25) - Nice cloudy yellow colored beer. A fair bit of "cumulus cloud" type of foam on top.
S (4) - Smells like a nice little IPA/APA. Not especially florally or citrus smells, just generic hop
T (4.25) - Tastes weird. It's not crazy sour, but tangy. And your hops at the back end. I'm either desensitized to this or this wasn't as sour as I was expecting.
F (4.25) - Good drinking beer. A little astringency like you'd expect. But pretty smooth for what it is.
O (4.25) - I enjoyed this one. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but in a good way. I'd drink it again.

12.7 oz bottle, number 344. Pours clear straw yellow with a small white head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing. There's lots of yeast haze at the bottom.

The aroma is tropical fruits and funky brett with some piney hops.

The flavor is sweet malts and some tropical fruit with funky brett and medium bitterness from piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low smooth carbonation.

Overall, a terrific brett ipa. Nice blend of fruits, funk and pine.

2013 Batch 2. Opened July 2014.

A - Beautiful golden wheat body. Pure white head towers above the glass with great retention and nice lace.

S - Great nose. Well balanced brett, not overwhelming. Oak, plant stem hop character, pollen, lemon, dandelion, tool shed, and wax.

T - Wow, a lot more sour than I was expecting. Really interesting. Sour orange, pinot grigio, dry grass, banana leaf, oak, and a tangy brett finish.

M - Pretty much perfect. Well carbonated, with a fantastic medium-full body for the style.

O - Not a session brew, but a great example of what well executed brett beer can be.

Thanks to my Buddy Mitch in Colo. for the load of CS bottles he sent me. My first CS beers and so far I'm impressed.

12.7 oz. bottle

This one pours clouded medium tangarine, moderate off white head, collar and tiny bubble film

The nose is whee things get interesting. Nice citrus, tropical fruits and a bag of fresh hops come to mind. Also a bit of musty barnhard in the rear.

Creamy and quite smooth on the tongue, more soft citrus notes with lime and melon up front. Tart in the finish with cut grass, cat piss, biting hops, more lime and again some mold/must. Complex and simply delicious.

Crooked Stave please begin distributing to NY state as soon as possible.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 375ml bottle.

Batch # 2

Pours a very nice slightly hazy and cloudy golden color with some nice straw yellow edges. Nice 1 inch frothy and soapy dense head. Head is pretty sticky and retention is great.

Aroma starts off with some interesting funky Brett notes. Some slight phenols and some nice notes of mild lemon. Quite funky. Straw and hay with some nice barnhouse aromas as expected. Nice earthy woody oak notes.

Flavor is GREAT! Notes of citrusy and grassy hops that are balanced by some nice and pretty intense funky notes. Notes of hay and musty woody oak. Some slight phenols give a tinge of sweetness. Notes of pear juice and some slight crisp dry apple. The earthy funky notes play so well with the hoppy citrus and herbal hop notes. Mouthfeel is also great with some ncie vivid carbonation and a good dry light feel. The Brett really shine and there are some nice phenols that give the brew some slight clove like hints and mild sweetness.

APA or BPA? Who cares; this brew is delicious great hop notes balanced well with awesome Bretty funk and earthy wood notes.
