Style: Weizenbock

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.70%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our light-coloured, spicy single-bock, “Vitus” is saturated with fine yeast and a creamy foam. It is a specialty with a round character based on the extra long storage time. The fruity smell of dried apricots joins aromas of citrus, cloves and hints of banana. Full-bodied and sparkling with an effervescent mouthfeel. Thus, the Vitus does not taste like a typical Bock beer but more like a noble, fruity wheat beer. Perfect with red meat, strong cheese and also able to guide desserts. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Nice creamy head, light copper color with cloves and spice forward in the taste. Wheat keeps this bock light and lively. Not an overly malty bock, very refreshing.

Yellowish hazy translucent straw colour with a 1 finger creamy white head that thins and lasts.
The bready banana smell from the yeast is similar to their Hefenweizen and Dunkelweizen.
I think the malt bill on this one is different, wheatier, semi-sweet and more forward to the taste.
Fruit flavors are present and the alcohol is noticable as a mild astringency. Spice replaces hops at the finish.
Medium rich somewhat oily mouthfeel, light to medium CO2 livens up as it dries and warms from the alcohol.
Warms well and smooth to drink. The spice and booze are balanced between the malt and bready yeast.
Thats 3 big hits in a row, I must try more.

Very hazy amber body with a very generous, thick, creamy head. Very pleasant aroma: banana & ripe fruit & clove. Taste is the perfect amount of sweet balanced out with slightly salty & an even slighter amount amount of bitter. Flavorwise, it couldn’t be much better: banana, apricot, clove, citrus & spice & wheat. Luxurious mouthfeel, perfect amount of carbonation & alcohol to entertain the tongue & gums. Doesn’t taste or look like a porter but definitely one of my favorites.

Poured a cloudy yellow - orange color with a white foamy two-finger head. Heavy lacing. Aromas of citrus, apricots and spice. Taste of citrus, cloves, bananas. Little hop bitterness. Moderate body and effervescent. This is not even close to a bock beer. It is more like a boozy hefe. I like it!

From a bottle. Hazy yellow, excellent head retention. Banana , herbal on the nose and taste. Medium bodied, smooth feel, just a little lemon and tartness. A bit of alcohol heat on the finish. Complex and wonderful.

Hazy golden colour, big head with long retention, good irregular lace.
Aroma has a lot of cloves, bananas, malts, citrics.
Full body, oily palate, good carbonation. Sweet and spicy finish.
Taste has again a lot of cloves, banana, pineapple, peaches.
Good boozy beer.

Appearence: Cloud yellow-orange, white head with good retention and formation.

Smell: Yellow fruits, banana, clove and spicy. Bread bark and malty too.

Flavor: Medium sweetness, banana, clove and low acidity, low bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium body and high carbonation, banana and clove and spicy persists in the after taste and a low alcoholic heat can be felt.

Overall: Refreshing but with medium body, spicy and sweet, alcoholic and high carbonated, this beer bring a very balanced and even complex german flavour to your table!

Amazing taste. I was in Austria several years ago and I had a beer like this, I have been craving this taste ever since. Too bad I was not beet literate then (no internet) so no way of knowing what I had had. I have tried several German pilsners and weiss beers since then but could tell that none tasted like what I had tasted at that time. I have always been a fan of Weihenstephaner beers, original and weiss beer. Last weekend, I saw this one at a store and quickly grabbed it. When I had it today, immediately that taste of several years go came back rushing to me. This is what I have been missing for so many years.
