Style: Weizenbock

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.70%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our light-coloured, spicy single-bock, “Vitus” is saturated with fine yeast and a creamy foam. It is a specialty with a round character based on the extra long storage time. The fruity smell of dried apricots joins aromas of citrus, cloves and hints of banana. Full-bodied and sparkling with an effervescent mouthfeel. Thus, the Vitus does not taste like a typical Bock beer but more like a noble, fruity wheat beer. Perfect with red meat, strong cheese and also able to guide desserts. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Tulip glass.

A: Pours a white-ish pale color with bright white cola-like carbonation which fizzles out immediately. Hazy, with a still surface. No lacing.

S: Straight up banana bread dough, a little spice (clove, cinnamon).

T: Same, a little wheat, with a moderate sweetness which kind of limits the drinkability.

M: High, fizzy carbonation and medium body. Hint of a milky texture. Alcohol is well hidden.

O: Decent. Interesting flavors, but not something I can drink more than a small pour of. A bock strength wheat beer is just not my cup of tea.

A: golden straw color. Very foggy with a big white bubbly head.

S: bananas, cloves, hay, and lemon.

T: this is a very impressive beer. Banana, cloves, lemon, wet hay, orange peel, butter, fruit bread, raisins, and some sweets. So good.

M: perfectly medium and buttery. It's got a residue-y feel or a straw-y feel to it. It's awesome.

O: this is damn near perfect for a dopplebock. Taste is amazing.

A: Beautiful, cloudy yellow color with quickly disappearing white head.
S: Yum! Wheat, banana bread, honeydew melon giving it a distinct sweet smell.
T: Yum! Creamy, sweetness, with hints of banana, melon and wheat.
M: 7.7% but you would never know it. Not a hint of alcohol, and that is a compliment.
O: This is a very good wheat beer, one of my favorite wheat beers of all time!

Bottle from Gator Bev in Gainesvile. Pours hazy yellow with a massive 3 inch fluffy white head on top. Nice sweet wheat malt aroma with banana esters, spicy yeast, some buttery honey. Just right. Light to medium bodied with lots of bubbly carbonation and a clean crisp finish. Flavor is sweet wheat, funky banana spice and yeast, hay. Very crisp with lingering hay and banana on the palate. I have really started to appreciate these nice and easy drinking classic German brews that Weihenstephaner makes. Cheap, too! Good stuff.
